Silhouettes

Have I ever told you about the silhouettes I have? I think not since after this post so many of you asked about them. I'm not sure if it's just a southern thing but round these parts, us mom have silhouettes done of our children. If we are rich or have rich parents, we have an oil painting commissioned as well. So I've heard.

A few years ago, Lena Bengtson was coming to a local children's shop. You had to book your appointment way in advance if you wanted an appointment. I was never able to get one, always calling too late and she was booked. She is like a real, live silhouette arteest. And I wanted her...bad. This is taken straight from her website:

A degree in fine art with an emphasis in portrait painting has given Lena the skill needed to capture an exact likeness. The detailed cuttings are done in the European embellished style. Lena has cut silhouettes in 15 states and 3 European countries.
This is not your preschool overhead projector silhouette. I wanted to have my boy's profile captured by Lena and I was lucky enough to secure an appointment this time.

Little did I know that a month or two later when our day had arrived I would have a decision to make. The business that my husband had bought was not going well. At all. So, I could use what little cash we had to pay for these frivolous, unnecessary works of art or skip the sitting. Now all you Dave Ramsey Gazelle intense folks don't get all crazy on me but, I chose to use our cash for the silhouettes. I took that $54 out of our grocery money and lived to tell about it. At least I knew enough not to put it on a credit card.
My boys sat for Lena and she was wonderful. Y'all, she sits with a pair of scissors and black paper and just stares at the child and cuts! No tracing, no drawing--just cutting without hardly even looking at the paper! It only took 7-8 minutes and the boys simply looked at books.
It was the right decision for me. I have not regretted having spent that money on those precious works of art. There are some things in life that you only have one chance to capture.
Now, if you have the funds, you can go to Lena's website and find out about submitting a photo and she can create a silhouette for you. They are SO detailed! Or, you can do what Linda or Molly or Leah did and make them yourself--but no matter what, consider having silhouettes made of your children, you will not regret it!

  • I shared what I compromised my grocery money for. Do you have something unnecessary that is so important to you that you would sabotage your grocery budget? Fess up, I know you do.
  • Amanda Gamboa--will you please contact me?
  • Go check out the Moms Unite Holiday Directory at Kimba's place! Support real moms, not robots! It's not too late to be added to the list!

And I'll Cry if I want to.

It's my blog's birthday today.
She's one year old.

The Mushy Part
Here's the first post. All of my life I have been playing in my house and it's been so fun to document it, hear your opinion {good and bad} and hot glue for an audience. It won't be long and I'll have a pretty new blog design and I hope it will be a little more reader friendly.

The Non Mushy/Decorating Tip Part of the Post
Seeing the photo of my boys on the porch of The House That I Loved reminded me of how we carved our pumpkins that year. I usually have grandiose plans of my husband carving 3 or 20 different pumpkins. I always forget that after carving one, the fun is gone, the kids are watching The Great Pumpkin and being creative becomes a chore.

That year we got our the drill and different size drill bits and within 3 minutes had drilled polka dots all over that big green pumpkin. It doesn't look all that stunning in the day but at night it was radiant. It was my favorite pumpkin ever!

Happy Fall!

Giveaway Day!

The obsession continues.

I know how some of you feel about my metal barn stars. I understand some of you think they are over used, dated and boring. Well, I'm not planning on trying to change your mind but, I'd love to show you where my stars are now and if I win you over, you can enter to win a 24 inch metal barn star from J'Ollie Primitives.

Remember this project when we painted them with paper towels? I like to hang my stars all together for major impact. And a little patriotic undertone never hurt anyone.

Here's my big fat rusty metal star. He's hanging in the playroom today.

Here's Big Rusty at Christmas time in my old house. He's also spent some time outside on the back of my house. This star just gets better with age!

Now, I've gone and spray painted all these stars black. No worries, I can paint them again whenever I get tired of them. They give some much needed life and dimension to this tall, dull, narrow stairwell.

So, if you are a barn star enthusiast or, if somehow, I've managed to win you over to the dark side and now you see a great star shaped void in your life, you can win one!

J'Ollie Primitieves, owned by the Lewis family, is offering up a 24 inch metal barn star shipped to you strait from their home. They purchase these stars from a crafter in an Old Order Amish community and they'll even paint it for you. Check it out--they have 26 colors and I bet they look better than my paper towel painting. I just love businesses like this and if you never win anything, and need you a star real bad, head on over to their website and check out their wares!

Leave a comment and tell me how many stars you have to put your name in the hat!

Winner of the Pleated Poppy Giveaway:
Laura!

This just in: Want
10% off for any Amish Barn Star purchases? All you have to do is enter WISHLIST (all caps) on the discount code box on the checkout page. There is no time limit on the discount, and the Discount Code can be shared with anyone and everyone.

United Moms

UPDATE: Moms Unite will be unavailable Starting May 1st. We're revamping and plan to be back better than ever this fall!

I have so enjoyed getting to know many of you moms out there who, like myself have a small business. Whether you are a graphic designer, hair bow maker or author of a blog it makes me happy to see you succeed. My friends Kimba {A Soft Place to Land}, Melissa {The Inspired Room} and Sandy {4 Reluctant Entertainers} feel the same way about supporting moms in business. We are thrilled to help promote other moms and we started a group called Moms Unite.

What’s that mean?

Moms Unite will be doing our part to give other moms opportunities to promote and advertise their businesses. Likewise, we are giving everyone the opportunity to find great businesses for services and products! Yippie! It's a win/win!

Mom Ads

Sandy, Melissa , Kimba and I will be offering deeply discounted mom rates for ad buttons in our special Moms Unite advertising area of our blogs. You can place ads on just one of our sites, or for maximum exposure, you can be on all four sites. The cost is $50 for two months of ad/button space per blog.

We expect to reach over a million page views among the four blogs during a 60 day run so that is a lot of exposure. And by linking together, we hope to share the good cheer with everyone.

Who Qualifies for Moms Unite?

If you are a woman/lady/girl, running a small home business selling crafts or products, design services, writing or blogging, this is probably the right place for you! {And if you aren't a mom, you can do it too--it just sounded better to say Moms Unite as opposed to Womens Unite or Females Are Us or Girls Incorporated}

What if I don't qualify as a small home based business mom for this promotion?

Not to worry. Those of you with businesses that don't fit the small home business profile for Mom's Unite, but still want to partner with Nesting Place for advertising, can check out the premier advertising availability.

Where do I sign up?

Sign up at any of the four listed blogs to join in the fun at their blog. The more you sign up for, the more results you will see. And the more results you see, the happier we all are!

How do I join up with Moms Unite for the Nesting Place?

Just click the buy it now button {I loaded it myself, I'm so proud}. Follow up with an email and your button with code. The button needs to be a static 180 x 48 (wider than long) linked button. Need a button--check out the mom unite ads for any graphic designers. {If you are a graphic designer this is your chance for some button business if you want it}. For other advertising opportunities, please email me: nestergirl@gmail.com.

Be sure to take a button code and share the opportunity with your friends! Don't forget to click on the buttons under the Moms Unite emblem on the sidebar and check out some great businesses and good reads!

I love getting to know you all , and I love helping moms. I am really excited to team up with my sweet friends Melissa and Kimba to get the word out about YOU!

Special thanks to Kimba and Melissa for coaching me through every tiny step of this entire post and letting me borrow their polished wording--unless the subjects are lamps and fabric I cannot even begin to write.

Fall Decorating Without the Fuss

Want that fall feel without purchasing every pumpkin at your local craft store? Me too. I decided to shop the house and see what I could come up with. Here's what I found:

* Big red finial {thing that looks like a clown hat}
* Red urn and little pumpkins that fit inside
* White platter with candles and wooden beads
* Silhouettes of my boys
* A pumpkin and an urn
* Metal topiary form that was sitting empty on our porch
* Fake Christmas berries
* Red Fabric

I just kind of wrapped those berry sprigs around that form really causal like. This table will look great on into winter too. I'll simply replace that pumpkin with a little topiary come December. And that red fabric--I only draped it under the square topper on the table replacing the old unfallish fabric that was there before.

See, free fall decor. I bet you've got some stuff hiding away that's just waiting to make an appearance in your home.

If you are new here, visiting from my guest post over at Simple Mom, WELCOME! If you aren't familiar with Simple Mom her tag line is, "Live simply, stay sane. Life hacks for home managers." Now who doesn't need some of that?

Blissdom '08 Recap

Warning: Long post with lots of words. Nester attempts to put her deepest thoughts in writing without cracking open her brain or heating up the glue gun.

My sister, Emily and I went to Blissdom 08 this weekend. I hate to bore you with all the glorious details on this blog but, you know I'm not afraid to wreck it all up every now and then. I do want everyone to know this. If you are a blogger and have never gotten together with other bloggers, you should. You will not regret it. You will learn, you will get encouraged, you will make friends, you will be proven wrong about things you assumed.

Here are my highlights:

*Seeing Karla Again--how weird is it to have friends who you met online? Karla is an amazing woman with a sassy haircut and I am so glad to know her and she has been so encouraging to me I consider Karla a close friend. She worked her hiney off to make this weekend wonderful and it was worth every minute of work! Thanks Karpo!

*Meeting Fussy in the Flesh. Y'all, this woman is the real deal. She and Karla both ran the entire weekend while holding/nursing a little fella and everything went off without a hitch. I love seeing moms do their thing with a baby in tow. Also, little known fact, Fussy has a beautiful profile. I'm not talking about the words in her about me on her blog. I mean when she turns her pretty face to the side, she has becomes even more pretty with her cute little button nose. Wish I had a button nose. Thanks for including me Fussy!

*Meeting Robin. Ok, you know how you read someone's blog and you think you have a feel on their personality and stuff? I was so off with Robin! Loved her both ways but, in person we connected so fast and she was delightfully wise and thoughtful and nurturing. Robin is the editor of the Inspired Bliss channel over at Blissfully Domestic. Here's a photo of the people in our hotel room {minus Karla's perfectly non crying one year old}.

Robin, Emily, Karla, Nester

*Meeting Simple Mom. Y'all. She is my current blog crush. Poor Tsh had to put up with me asking her questions and admiring everything from her simply perfect business card to her tiny, no nonsense purse of which I could fit no less than 89 of in my big obnoxious pocket book.

This is where I cornered her so I could soak of all of her knowledge and try my hardest to make her love me. I just know we would be good friends if we lived next door to each other.

*Meeting Jessica, a fellow encourager to women and etsy seller who's tag line is "Live Beautiful". How can we not love her?

*Meeting Devon and Peyton. This mother and daughter could only come for a session but then sought out me and Emily and even gave us a...gift? What a treat to meet real live women who read our blogs! That was a wonderful experience--thank you, ladies!

*Meeting Megan. Ok, you know how I said that people are not always what you think when you read their blogs? Megan was the queen of this. I've read her blog in the past and expected her to be 8 feet tall, and not speak to me but just listen, look at me, think about what a dork I am, roll her eyes, and walk away hoping to forget the bad memory of the anti-deep thinker that is Nester. I couldn't have been more wrong. Megan was the most insightful, personable, encouraging, accepting, I'm-true-to-myself and oh so comfy in my own skin kind of person you would ever hope to meet. I had no idea she would be so great and not abnormally tall--she's my height. And she owned such a sultry, self confident beauty. When I grow up, I want to be Megan.

*Hotel Preston. Let me just say this, they had a display of a dress made out of pink crayons, they had red cowhide with black spots lining the elevator and a playful grouping of pendant lights hanging in the lobby. Pure eye candy.

*Epson. One to One . Yes, I'm talking about a company. Whenever I see people talk about a company I totally tune out. But, let me tell you, Epson made this entire conference possible. They footed the bill so it could be free for us. Are you tuned out yet? Well listen up. It is a complement to every one of us bloggers out there when companies realize that we bloggers are worth investing in. Those companies that are with it enough to know that bloggers have influence and yes, they want us to buy their stuff but, I'm so glad they acknowledge the growing impact that the blog world has. Done tooting horns.

*Kim, Rachel, Mommy. We had lunch with these girls on the way home. Again, if you have never met fellow bloggers in person, I am so sorry. These girls had me and Emily giggling like fools and also had our eyes bulging out at the stories they told us. Of course, I grilled Kim about her business trying to squeeze out any and all information that I could steal from her and use for my own gain. Heart y'all! {waiting for a photo--I'll have it up later!}

*Traveling with my sister. Emily had me laughing so hard while I was driving through those corkscrew roads in the mountains, that I was sure I was gonna kill us both. I had NEVER heard the story about her driving her car down a sidewalk and then down steps during her last trip to Nashville.

Emily was invited to the conference but, I know that she was really doing me a favor by going with me. People at conference were introduced to me because I was on a few panels. I think some people assume that I know what I'm doing when it comes to blogging. I so don't. Some assume that I have all sorts of philosophies, tricks, and ideas on how to make a blog bigger and better. It was glaringly obvious this weekend that I didn't. I just love to play in my house and share it.

Megan, Fussy, Tsh, Nester

At night and in between sessions I would seek out my sister for her wise input. I usually feel like I cannot process what I think about something till I bounce it off of her first. It's funny because during the conference it was said that "mommy bloggers" {I have no idea who that is} will never get 1000 visitors a day, they won't be able to write about the mundane happenings of life {and make it applicable to others}, and really need to utilize all sorts of social media so they can connect with other people. Let me just say that my sister {soon to have an article published} sat their quietly knowing that she was defying all of those odds in her own blog {I know not if she is a mommy blogger}. Man, she should have been the one on the panels.

I'm not AT ALL saying that any info we got/gave was wrong. It was wisely said by Megan that there are always exceptions to the rules and the day was really to talk about the general things that we can do to grow our blogs. But, for me, my favorite blogs seem to be those that do defy the rules. Megan herself only posts when she feels like she has something to say. June writes diary style about her pets and what she eats and uses few photos and it couldn't be any more funny, dramatic or captivating. Meredith uses photos and only a poignant sentence or two and you feel like you read an essay. The Nester is a fake designer who hates to write but loves encouraging women in their home. Emily sees the holy in the mundane and people respond to that in huge numbers. And she doesn't care if anyone even knows.

Thank you Karla, Alli, Robin, Jessica, Tsh, Barbara, Megan, Blonde Mom, Devon, Peyton, Kim, Misty, Rachel, Lynn, Emily and all of you that I was too shy to talk to. I learned so much from you!

Special thanks to Secret Agent Mama for not suing me for using her photos because her mad photography skills blow my mind.

Special thanks to Emily for taking photos with her professional grade camera and emailing them to me.

Paint color: Laura Ashley, Summer Field. This color looks so ugly and snakey on the sample and is glorious in every season on the walls! I've used it in my living room years ago and in my boys room and this photo was adjusted so you can see the drapes better but the color is a wonderful green!

The Issue
You all know I’m not gonna embarrass myself and talk about politics or the economy or the quadratic equation on this here blog. But, there is one thing I do want to talk about. Small businesses. In particular, small in home cottage businesses run by us womenfolk who make cute stuff.

I love it when a mom decides that there is something she is so passionate about creating that she just cannot help but make it. Selling it comes second to the joy that making the particular item brings. Some of us even help bring in some much needed income.
I have a feeling there are lots of you crafty ones out there gearing up for the holiday season—you’ve purchased goods to make whatever it is you make, you have inventory, you are ready for Christmas, right? I spoke to a few of you last week {not necessarily the ones pictured--those were just the girls I had at the forefront of my mind} and from what I gather, business was slow. What can I do to help besides buy everything from you and then be broke and have to live with my family in a car full of cute handmade items?

The Ideas

More Giveaways.
Since our last giveaway was so successful and I know how much you like to get free stuff and I know that there are so many of you talented ladies out there I’ve got a few more giveaways lined up in the coming weeks. {I have one or two more openings if you want to be a part please email me today.}

Buy Handmade. Most of us are all still going to be purchasing gifts this Christmas. Maybe we are cutting back or getting creative but I would like to encourage you to consider purchasing from a small business instead of buying everything from Target and Macy’s. Plus, if you buy handmade then you are getting something that real people made—not robots.

Free Advertising Here Next Wednesday. We’ve got another giveaway today and a few more coming up but, I would love to have a Mr. Linky party whatchamacallit for any of you out there who make stuff and sell it. Get your goods ready and link to your blog or shop and next Wednesday and we’ll all make the rounds and visit you. Hmmm, this might be a great time to hold your own giveaway! Can anyone think up a great name for this Linky? Handmade by Humans? Bloggers supporting Bloggers? Shop Cottage Industry? Don't buy from Robots? I’m no good with words. Good Luck this Holiday season!

Today’s Giveaway

We'll have 3 winners for this one and there won’t be a deadline for the winners to use their credit. Taken strait from her etsy shop, Keri makes wonderful "custom, personalized, 'just for you' card designs of all kinds. Invitations, holiday cards, announcements, business cards, digital scrapbook pages – if you can think of a way to use your photo, she can create something for you."

What great timing for custom Christmas cards. If you win, you can use your $15 credit {the price of one design} for Christmas, a birthday invitation or a birth announcement – whatever you want, whenever they you it. There are no shipping fees as she simply produces the design and emails the file to the winner for you to have printed wherever you want at whatever quantity you want. Keri will do a custom design or personalize an existing one.

One more thing, Keri is having a sale: $2 off the first design and $1 off all additional designs (no limit, but they must be ordered at the same time.) Fly on over to her shop and order you up a design or two--you don't even have to sign your names on your Christmas Cards this year! Let's support each other this year! But I don't blame you if you wait until Thursday to see if you won!

Leave a comment here to enter--remember, three winners and this contest ends Wednesday at midnight! Oh and for fun, tell me about how many Christmas cards you sent out last year. I'll start. Zero because I'm lazy. But, if I were going to this year I'd order them from Keri.

PS my internet service has gone insane and I'm at a coffee shop once again I might be slow in replys and if I inadvertantly put something crazy in this blog post like "I love to polyester sofas" please forgive the fact that I'm not around to edit it out.

Secret Reading Room Take Two

Remember the Secret Reading Room we had in our old house?

That middle boy of mine loves to have a private place to do his schoolwork. We have a little area in the playroom/guestroom that is awkward and long and skinny and useless. If we owned this house this would be a great place to build a little platform with storage and stick a twin bed in here all cozy like.

I also had a coffee table that was entirely too big for the family room. So, I saved precious space in the room where we hang out and utilized this table that was just the right size to park a few child sized chairs. I love it when things come together.

Just folded and clipped some fabric {using this method} and put them on the only thing I had. A stark white shower rod. I'll keep my eyes open for a black one, until then, this one will do just fine.
Lest you think we have a clean playroom. See the threshold where I pushed the toys over for the photo?

Necklace Winner!

Y'all. I mean, Y'ALL! Nearly 800 of you were hoping to win the necklace designed by Lisa Leonard. And the winner is.....

Heather Sadlier

congrats and, for your winning pleasure we are gonna have another giveaway later this week!

Just us Birds

Lookie what I got to do yesterday. Kimba came to town and she is a doll and looks like a dark headed Reese Witherspoon. This girl is the real deal and y'all she's just as wonderful in real life as she is on her blog! We've got Lauren, Kendra, me, Emily, Jill, Kimba, Jen--some of my favorite people.

And if that isn't enough bloggieness for me, next weekend, I get to go to Nashville to hang with a big bunch of wonderful women at the Blissfully Domestic Blissdom '08 conference. Here's a list of who's gonna be there--I cannot wait to meet everyone!

As of last week when I was originally gonna write this post there were a few spaces left --click here for more info I would love to meet you there! It's free to register thanks to the good people at EPSON all you have to do is pay for your vittles and logding for a night. See you there?

Make this Thing

I don't know what to call it. I don't know what use it has. But I like it. Years ago I made these...things and sold them but, never really knew what to call them.

You get you a deep frame like this--a great use for one of those frames where the glass is broken, because you don't need glass. I've used all sizes of frames and you can go really large with these and have a huge cork board. Here I used one with a 4 x 6 opening. You can even stand your cork up and down and cut it in half to use the circle side up. Some people cut their corks in half lengthwise to double up on the amount of corks they can use but I like them to be whole.

Then you get you some corks. Don't drink much wine? You can purchase corks on etsy and ebay. Make sure you get real cork, not the fake stuff. I always lay mine in first so I can arrange them. See that little fellow up there in the corner? He's a little stout for that position so just replace him.

Better. They don't have to touch perfectly, you know.

Once you get them all arranged just take one out at a time and hot glue the back to make them stay put.

We are not done yet. Do you have a stash of little odds and ends like this? I call it my box of tricks. I pulled out a few items that we could add onto this unnamed beautiful thing we are making.Look, a broken ring clip clip. a part to a knob and an upholstery tack!

Push the tack in with the clip to hold a pencil and glue on a clothes pin to hold all your cash. I used a tack to hold the note pad.

Maybe it's a photo frame. You could attach a photo of a very happy up to date couple. I added a tassel too because I'm that kind of girl.

I'm sure this guy is the life of the party. Now you have a better way to use up your corks. If I only had a cute name. Corky Frame?

Coming to a blog near you

Well, being away from home all weekend and spending the day at your parent's house in the middle of the week can really take a toll on a girl's blog!

I haven't forgotten about projects and fun home stuff and I'll have a post up tonight with the next project. We've got all sorts of fun things to play with in the upcoming weeks including this fun fur, lampshades and wine corks.

Off to ejumakate my boys--see you later today and don't forget to sign up to win the necklace--the contest ends tonight!

Attention Moochers: Free Jewels!

This contest is now closed.

I love to wear jewelry of all sorts. Usually I'm drawn to the big clunky bracelets and necklaces. I had a pair of hoop earrings sitting in my car once and a friend of mine said "oh, don't forget your bracelets!". Big jewelry I tell you. I have a necklace with stones on it so large that by the end of the day, my neck has had a work out. I only wear it every now and then because I don't want my neck muscles to look like...someone that has really strong neck muscles. I couldn't think of anyone funny, hate me and please feel free to leave your funny strong neck person's name in the comments.

It was high time I found something that I could wear every day. I recently ordered a sweet piece from Lisa over at her uber cool and understated online store lisa leonard designs and guess what, it's not hugemongous. I am so proud of me. Not only is it somewhat dainty {without being fragile or too cutesy} it's pretty and easy to wear with anything. Look at this pretty stuff!

I just might be ordering me three of these rings --love them! $22 each.

Lisa is very talented and her wares were recently featured in Victoria magazine. Y'all, she does all sorts of beautiful work from birds to hearts but, I'm partial to anything that is personalized! What a great gifts her creations would make for a mom or grandmother on your Christmas list!

New baby in the family? How about a personalized baby spoon!

Oh, look at that sweet bracelet with the charms!

So, this is the necklace that I purchased and if you want one for free and are good at wining things, Lisa has graciously offered to give away a necklace just like the one I got. Except you get to have your kids initials on it instead of mine. Hopefully the winner will not have 11 kids--that might get a little tricky. Want to win? Just leave a comment with your children's initials, you have until Thursday at 12:00 midnight. And head on over to Lisa's shop and say hello! Thanks so much Lisa!

Those Creative Women

I know this post only applies to a small percentage of you but I still want to tell you about this show that I was lucky enough to be invited to part of.

They call themselves: Those Creative Women and I'm thrilled to be among them. You've got Lauren , who lots of us in these decorating blog circles adore, she is a new on the loose designer and she'll be doing custom gift wrapping with fellow designer, Blair. Then, there is Melody, a spunky jewelry designer and also Kate, she's the brains behind anything graphically designed for Creative Women website. Cindy the owner of Imagery Limited designs all sorts of things stained glass. Lastly, we have our host, Kendra, founder of My First Kitchen. Kendra is busy gracing Greensboro with her cooking skills through the classes that she offers and what she calls catering with a twist.

I'll be grabbing the cash out of your hot little hand in exchange for my tassels, garlands and a few other beautiful items that you don't need but will really want. Come to Greensboro, North Carolina on Saturday, November 8th and hang out with me, my mom and my sister {yes, I make them come with me everywhere} and those other creative women, see some pretty stuff, buy some Christmas gifts and sample some heavenly food. $10 -- THE QUICK Q & A

Wish you could have an opinion on a project you are working on, but don't want to clean your house, hire a babysitter and pay a decorator $300 to help out with a simple question? I don't blame you. Sometimes all you need is some reassurance that you are on the right track, or help deciding between two colors. I'm making it easy and affordable by offering a simple solution. You can send me photos and ask a single question, such as would this sofa work in this room? If it is a quick Q that can receive a quick A from me, this is the solution to choose.

Selling Your Home?

Why not start a little blog for it? Shea did just that and now I want to move there.

Include the price --there is nothing worse than not knowing what someone is asking when you are looking at a flyer. Yes, I know it's a blog and it's telling everyone but you want to sell your house, right? You could even start a blog using a different host site so it's not linked to you.

Include the general location
but not exact address.

Use lot of
photos including seasonal photos and photos of people enjoying the yard--LOVE THAT!

Link to the MLS {oh, it wasn't working when I clicked it!} I'm guessing this would have the exact address or a phone number to call to get the address.

Stage it! Shea's house looks great--sparsely decorated yet inviting.

What a great, free way to show every room!

I hope this blog is listed on the MLS and on craigslist and in the newspaper and online with the ads and on the flyers that are put in the box in the front yard! I'll be doing this if we ever sell another house!

Great job Shea!

Here's what one Nesting Place advertiser, Dee from Red Letter Words, has to say:

I first stumbled upon the Nester in the Spring of 2009 when I was just beginning to consider where to advertise. I was immediately entertained with the Nesters hilarious writing and her decorating style. But when I first contacted her, all the advertising spots were full!! That spoke volumes to me - this is a Great place to advertise!! So as soon as the blog advertising spot became available I signed up! Hits from the Nester have been huge and consistent!! I have received lots of orders from the Nesters readers as well as wonderful emails from them saying they love my prints and are bookmarking www.redletterwords.com for future purchases! It is wonderful working with the Nester! Even though I don't know her real name:) But then again, who cares? She is the Nester, and she is the greatest!

Secondary Advertising:

From time to time I offer chances to be a part of Giveaway Day. I'm planning on having these days full of giveaways once per quarter but I'm not making any promises. Usually a few weeks before I decide to have the "day" I'll announce it on the blog. Anyone with a small business is welcome to apply for one of the limited spaces for Giveaway Day. I'll pick those whom I think Nesting Place readers will love the most. The fee is $50 to sponsor a giveaway and the minimum amount for the giveaway item or gift certificate is $50.

The last time I offered this, the response was huge. Lots of giveaway participants received over 1000 comments/entries each for their item. Every hour on giveaway day, a new, 2 paragraph post pops up with photos, a link and a chance to win a great item. It's so fun and is a great way to introduce your wonderful wares to lots of great women with fantastic taste.
Thanks for considering partnering with Nesting Place!

Keep your eyes peeled--this is a wonderful opportunity!

Tonight

8pm ABC. That's all I'm gonna say about that.
