The Bad.
The Just Plain Weird.
I loved all of your faux-liedge! Thanks to Southern Fam for introducing me to that word. How mad am I that I didn't think of that! Oh and don't you think everything looks better in an urn? You could put real POOPIE in an urn and it would look good!
I am still amazed that I was somehow able to convince over 100 civilized women to write the word Poopie on their blog and be excited about it!! YeeHaww! We are all insane! I'm not sure if this effort has done much good--as one reader put it:
"She's on some kind of campaign against tacky looking artificial flowers. (See, the problem with that is the people who actually have the tacky looking flowers...they don't know it. They think plastic looks good. And real.)"Well, at least it was fun!
What to do with all of that fake ivy you are now too embarrassed to keep? Martha has a great idea {who are we fooling--I'm sure Martha doesn't even know about this idea because her many writers do it} of what to do with all of your dusty old ivy. Spray paint it black for Halloween! Someone did this on their blog too and had a great photo--if you are reading this make yourself known with a link in the comments please!
One more thing.....
Earlier this week Kim asked me if I would let you all know about the online auctions she was having to raise money for NieNie. {click on the button above and then to to "about Nie" if you haven't already heard their story}. Kim is the queen of creative connections and gave lots of us our big break in blogland. She's got about 40 more items to action off so fly on over and check out the loot!

There were some fabulous ideas out there. Thanks for putting that all together. You are so right, we are all insane. I hope my grandchildren won't read my blog for awhile until the POOPIE post gets lost in the archives...Mimi
what can i say, you are INFLUENTIAL! love that big stick thing with the bird nest. i want to do that.
the mt. dew bottle!!hahaha, got to check that blog out.
I am going to MISS the poopies! So many of the thoughts on them cracked me up. My fav is the stick arrangement.
Wow, that Mountain Dew was faaaantastic! I think my hubby has done something similar.
It was fun to see all the POOPIE heads!
"Faux-liedge" ... love that new word!
Friday blessings, Nester!
those were great!
That first one is gorgeous, I've saved it in my fall inspiration gallery!
I'm so sad I missed the POOPIE party!! I'll be checking out all those links this weekend.
Can I just say, Oh My Gosh!! Your new wreath turned out beautfully!!!!! I don't know how you do it!
Yea for the Preservation of the Pitiless Poopies!! Sisters Unite!
If I had known you were putting some of your favs, I would have tried so much harder ;)
I do have some great hydrangeas lurking somewhere.
Oh, i am such a tizzie around my house with all my FAKES. I don't know how to "get rid of it"..it is such a part of ME. And, I have so many containers that I can't even begin to imagine what I can put in them. Real plants don't stand a chance around my brown thumb...fresh flowers are so lovely but my budget doesn't allow them very often...Oh, what's a girl to do???
You are such a fun girl..I love reading your blog.
bj
What fun to look at everybody's Poopie. I didn't even post mine - too embarrassed.
What was with that bottle??
Morning Nester, I want to thank you for hosting a great party! And I am so glad Mr. Know It All was picked for one of the best! Blessings, Nancy
This was a fun post to follow, just one question... Do you actualy pull the birds nest out of a tree... we have an empty one in a bush out front and I would love to grab it, is there something special you have to do to them to preserve them? Thanks,
If it's an abandoned birds nest and isn't all poopie {with real poopie} I would just spray it with Lysol and grab it!
I'm no scientist, just a mom but that's what I have done and we are all still alive and well and don't have an angry mob of birds rioting outside our window.
The poopie party was great. Thanks for teaching me how to link my blog post. Deana
I love all the ideas! My husband said I should put a bunch of fakes surrounding a NFL hat last night! I love being insane with all these great women and their ideas!
Happy Friday!
-Sandy Toes
Black spray painted ivy!!!! I'm jumping up and down! Or orange! Ooohh... its going to be a good weekend!
Oh. My. Goodness.
I am one of your favorite Poopies?? This, like, totally validates all my crafty/decor related ventures.
I'm going to go skip off and hot glue something now!
And under cloches. Everything looks better under cloches too. Except maybe that Mountain Dew bottle. That would sill just look like a Mountain Dew bottle.
Great poopies!
A fly on my wall would see me doing a happy dance right now because THE Nester chose one of my Poopies as her favorite!
And when I called you my make believe friend - it was only because we'd never met in person - I know we'd be friends in real life . . . and on the internet!
Thanks for making my day!
We are celebrating our one year anniversary and wanted to thank you for being a special part of the past year!
blessings,
kari & kijsa
Nester-that a grea idea. I am so sickon the fake, afke, fake. Great way to send the message. Its a revolutions. POOPIE!
I'm a favorite?!?! Does this mean I'm a Poopie Prom Queen? Do I get a sash and a crown of black ivy? YAY!
This is the cheapest fun I've had all year, and the biggest day on my blog ever. Thanks Nester! *smooches*
Who cares about winning the POOPIE award when I can claim being quoted by you?!!
I hope you don't mind but I bragged about it today on my blog.
And OMG, you are one popular Nester. I had over 200 visitors yesterday, mostly from here.
Hope you don't mind, but I'm going to be commenting every single day for the rest of my life.
Yes, those are the nicest poopies! I especially like the Mtn Dew bottle. But I'm a little biased. The pic is from one of my favorite blogs. :-)

So nester...how committed are you to that statement everything looks good under a dome with dried junk. Go look at Dana's arrangements. What a hoot!
Thanks for the nod to my FAUX-LIAGE. I keep getting a lot of visitors over from the nest- happy to have them- but now I see there is another link to me! (I have been out of blog land for a bit.) And, by the way, I just bought some fauxtastic gourds and pumpkins yesterday to spruce up my porch so I can 'can' the big sunflower!
nester, i confess i was at dreaded wal...t, (to get a coffeemaker) when i happened to wander in the notions/craft area. there were poopies there! one person was buying a bunch of items that could only be called GARISHLY COLORED> she clearly had not read up on the subject. i felt so badly for her. now that i know my world will never be the same. jkj
Hi! I was recently introduced to your window mistreatment concept and I want to say "Thank you" for sharing your genius with all of us here on the web. Overcoming the plaster wall curse I just mistreated my kitchen windows and I love it! I'm already looking forward to my next mistreatment. I linked my post back to you...hope you don't mind.
...a Nester fan in Wales :)
I am just shocked to be linked to a site associated with the Church of Later Day Saints. What's up with that?
Hi Nester!
I had such GREAT FUN being in the POOPIE PARTY! I took DAYS and DAYS to view everyone else's links and see their OWN FAUX PAS and some really GREAT LOOKING FAUX arrangements!
What's we doin' next?!?!?! I made several suggestions, but for now, I think we all need a rest!
I have GIVEN the Martha tactic a thought or two, and had actually spray-painted some very ancient Statice black to stick in a Halloween decor...never thought about doing the Ivy and other uglie's in my home...hmmmm.
Oh and the great Party Players and all their personalities were so much fun! Can't wait to see them again!
Hey Ladies! I think everyone is so creative. I am very new to blogging and haven't figured out all the cool tricky things like posting pics. How do you do it? Btw, I'm so not technical, so step by step is guuuurrreat for me. Thanks!
Oh my goodness, you would think I hit the lottery tonight when I logged on and saw my 2 pictures chosen as your favorites. Wow what an honor! Does that make me a Poopie Princess or something special like that? Thank you so much for the feature, I have had so many people dropping by, so much fun! I wish we lived closer, we would be bffs I just know it. You are the best!! I have to admit my hubby looked at me funny tonight when I told him I was featured as one of your favorite poopies! I guess guys just don't get what an honor it is!
Dear annon, are you suggesting that we only love and care for people that we have the same beliefs as? I don't think you are.
As much as I do not adhere to the beliefs that the family in the plane crash--they are part of the blogging community and I love how people have come together to minister to them regardless of beliefs.
I hope no one was offended by the link. I was aware of that before I added it but the idea here is to help a family in need.
Last I heard NieNie has burns on 80% of her body. I'm sure she would covet our prayers and be thrilled at the love shown by people across the nation!
Thank you all and hug your family extra tightly tonight!
Love to you all and annon, I'm glad you asked about it!
I found your blog, by blog stocking others. I am actually motivated to do something with this crazy house of mine & some of it is because of your great, inexpensive ideas :) Keep posting :)
hey i have a question for you! will you email me at lisaleonarddesigns@gmail.com when you get a second. love, love your blog!! hugs!
I've linked to your blog because I finally found some faux-lidge that I despise even WORSE than faux ivy.....take a look and see what I mean! Thanks for your inspiration that you give so many of us!
Suzanne
From the creative-challenged people out there (me) thank you for giving the inspiration to actually be creative.
Nester,
Just wanted to say thank you to you for not only mentioning NieNie on your post, but then going on to stand up for that decision when an anonymous reader challenged it.
I read your blog faithfully and the thought of your religion vs. mine has never even entered my mind. Our ability to love people of all races, religions and cultures can actually be strengthened by this little world we call the blogosphere. You exemplified that to me. I'm very grateful for your response as I believe it shows us all your beautiful character. Thank you.
You have an amazing blog and clearly a loyal following. I would just like to thank you for mentioning the link to "NieNie". The NieNie family is dealing with a great challenge right now and I think it is amazing that the blogosphere is reaching out with prayers and support. We can never give those in need too much love or too many prayers. It's called Charity, which for me is the pure love of Christ.
I know that the prayers of many unknown people have helped my husband get through a difficult cancer treatment this year. We didn't care from what faith those prayers came. What we do know is that they helped to bring peace and great blessings into our lives.
And now I'm off to dust my faux-liedge thinking all the time that HGTV is the same network that gives us "Design on a Dime",scary....that show not my faux-liedge.
