Warning: Long post with lots of words. Nester attempts to put her deepest thoughts in writing without cracking open her brain or heating up the glue gun.
My sister, Emily and I went to Blissdom 08 this weekend. I hate to bore you with all the glorious details on this blog but, you know I'm not afraid to wreck it all up every now and then. I do want everyone to know this. If you are a blogger and have never gotten together with other bloggers, you should. You will not regret it. You will learn, you will get encouraged, you will make friends, you will be proven wrong about things you assumed.
Here are my highlights:
*Seeing Karla Again--how weird is it to have friends who you met online? Karla is an amazing woman with a sassy haircut and I am so glad to know her and she has been so encouraging to me I consider Karla a close friend. She worked her hiney off to make this weekend wonderful and it was worth every minute of work! Thanks Karpo!
*Meeting Robin. Ok, you know how you read someone's blog and you think you have a feel on their personality and stuff? I was so off with Robin! Loved her both ways but, in person we connected so fast and she was delightfully wise and thoughtful and nurturing. Robin is the editor of the Inspired Bliss channel over at Blissfully Domestic. Here's a photo of the people in our hotel room {minus Karla's perfectly non crying one year old}.
*Meeting Simple Mom. Y'all. She is my current blog crush. Poor Tsh had to put up with me asking her questions and admiring everything from her simply perfect business card to her tiny, no nonsense purse of which I could fit no less than 89 of in my big obnoxious pocket book.
This is where I cornered her so I could soak of all of her knowledge and try my hardest to make her love me. I just know we would be good friends if we lived next door to each other.
*Meeting Jessica, a fellow encourager to women and etsy seller who's tag line is "Live Beautiful". How can we not love her?

*Meeting Devon and Peyton. This mother and daughter could only come for a session but then sought out me and Emily and even gave us a...gift? What a treat to meet real live women who read our blogs! That was a wonderful experience--thank you, ladies!
*Meeting Megan. Ok, you know how I said that people are not always what you think when you read their blogs? Megan was the queen of this. I've read her blog in the past and expected her to be 8 feet tall, and not speak to me but just listen, look at me, think about what a dork I am, roll her eyes, and walk away hoping to forget the bad memory of the anti-deep thinker that is Nester. I couldn't have been more wrong. Megan was the most insightful, personable, encouraging, accepting, I'm-true-to-myself and oh so comfy in my own skin kind of person you would ever hope to meet. I had no idea she would be so great and not abnormally tall--she's my height. And she owned such a sultry, self confident beauty. When I grow up, I want to be Megan.

*Hotel Preston. Let me just say this, they had a display of a dress made out of pink crayons, they had red cowhide with black spots lining the elevator and a playful grouping of pendant lights hanging in the lobby. Pure eye candy.

*Epson. One to One . Yes, I'm talking about a company. Whenever I see people talk about a company I totally tune out. But, let me tell you, Epson made this entire conference possible. They footed the bill so it could be free for us. Are you tuned out yet? Well listen up. It is a complement to every one of us bloggers out there when companies realize that we bloggers are worth investing in. Those companies that are with it enough to know that bloggers have influence and yes, they want us to buy their stuff but, I'm so glad they acknowledge the growing impact that the blog world has. Done tooting horns.

*Kim, Rachel, Mommy. We had lunch with these girls on the way home. Again, if you have never met fellow bloggers in person, I am so sorry. These girls had me and Emily giggling like fools and also had our eyes bulging out at the stories they told us. Of course, I grilled Kim about her business trying to squeeze out any and all information that I could steal from her and use for my own gain. Heart y'all! {waiting for a photo--I'll have it up later!}

*Traveling with my sister. Emily had me laughing so hard while I was driving through those corkscrew roads in the mountains, that I was sure I was gonna kill us both. I had NEVER heard the story about her driving her car down a sidewalk and then down steps during her last trip to Nashville.
Emily was invited to the conference but, I know that she was really doing me a favor by going with me. People at conference were introduced to me because I was on a few panels. I think some people assume that I know what I'm doing when it comes to blogging. I so don't. Some assume that I have all sorts of philosophies, tricks, and ideas on how to make a blog bigger and better. It was glaringly obvious this weekend that I didn't. I just love to play in my house and share it.
At night and in between sessions I would seek out my sister for her wise input. I usually feel like I cannot process what I think about something till I bounce it off of her first. It's funny because during the conference it was said that "mommy bloggers" {I have no idea who that is} will never get 1000 visitors a day, they won't be able to write about the mundane happenings of life {and make it applicable to others}, and really need to utilize all sorts of social media so they can connect with other people. Let me just say that my sister {soon to have an article published} sat their quietly knowing that she was defying all of those odds in her own blog {I know not if she is a mommy blogger}. Man, she should have been the one on the panels.
I'm not AT ALL saying that any info we got/gave was wrong. It was wisely said by Megan that there are always exceptions to the rules and the day was really to talk about the general things that we can do to grow our blogs. But, for me, my favorite blogs seem to be those that do defy the rules. Megan herself only posts when she feels like she has something to say. June writes diary style about her pets and what she eats and uses few photos and it couldn't be any more funny, dramatic or captivating. Meredith uses photos and only a poignant sentence or two and you feel like you read an essay. The Nester is a fake designer who hates to write but loves encouraging women in their home. Emily sees the holy in the mundane and people respond to that in huge numbers. And she doesn't care if anyone even knows.
Thank you Karla, Alli, Robin, Jessica, Tsh, Barbara, Megan, Blonde Mom, Devon, Peyton, Kim, Misty, Rachel, Lynn, Emily and all of you that I was too shy to talk to. I learned so much from you!
Special thanks to Secret Agent Mama for not suing me for using her photos because her mad photography skills blow my mind.
Special thanks to Emily for taking photos with her professional grade camera and emailing them to me.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time! :)
Okay I actually got choked up reading this. What kind of dork am I? The photo of you and Emily is beautiful. You're both fabulous. And how great to meet all these fabulous women. Now tell us all of Tsh's secrets :)
it was so fun and really an amazing experience! i loved meeting you even more than i loooooved your sweater and shoes!
That looks like lotsa fun! Would love to have been there...even though I suppose I'm not really blogworthy. *Dreams*....maybe someday
What a great time! What a blessing.
I wish I could have gone! It looks like y'all had so much fun.
I am SO thrilled that you two had this unbelievable time together, and of course, I am madly trying to pretend that I was there soaking up all the bloggyland bonding that was occurring. Yea for Emily being spontaneous, and the two of you for taking what looks like a Glamor photo together. :)
It was a great morning for all of us! It was a pleasure to share yummy food and gab for two hours about random stuff with you and Emily. Now we aren't just bloggy friends but friends IRL. Love that. Heart you too!
Sounds like tons of fun! Wish I could meet Fussy in person. She's a sweetheart through and through.
What a fabulous girl's weekend.....oh how cool! I love all ya'll for what you do! Thanks!
Suzanne
I wish we could have chatted more, but your aura just lights up the room. I really tried to get a good shot of your shoes when you were on the panel, but the lighting was against me. That and my battery pack.
Great weekend and I look forward to reading your blog!
Oh and no sueing, whatsoever.. I'm honored that my photos are being used by fellow BlissDom Greats!
that sounds wonderful and i so want to do this some day. get out of my comfort zone and meet bloggers. i think that's great. wish i had a cool sister to travel with.
I'm sooo glad we found the way to meet! Loved sitting with you two! I will have to make my way to you guys in the near future! I did a recap of our breakfast - you will have to let me know if I need to add anything! Hahaha! I got myself tickled when I went back and read it!
sounds like a big 'ol blast!
Looks like you guys had a blast! Your pretty much famous!
Well, Nester you know I wanted to be there so badly. Now I really wish I had been there. But, another time I guess. I just hope you'll be there next time too. Loved your shoes. Just a side point.
I know what you mean about all the tips and tricks that so many blogs try to use. While I am learning these things now, if you want a good laugh you can still go back to my first six to twelve months of blogging and be horrified at all the rules I broke! LOL! I didn't even know there were rules! I hate rules anyways.
Thanks for the update on the fun...
xoxoxoxo
I have always wanted a sister, and you and Emily always make it seem so great. You are there for each other, you enjoy each other and you have fun together. What a special thing to have.
S m i l e s :)
Spending time with you and Emily was a treat...y'all were wonderful buttercream frosting on a yummy over-sized slice of cake, Mmmmm!
Thank you for your sweet words here, but more so, for being light and encouragement to ME during BlissDom. It was unexpected surprise to connect on such a REAL level, and I know it wasn't a "one-shot" deal :).
It's funny that you saw me as...ummm..."different" than how you've read me; not in a bad way, but I'm so "me" on my blog (lol, at least to me). Maybe it's cause I CAN'T TALK WITH UPPERCASE AND EXCLAMATION POINTS visible or something :).
Oooo, I got TWO of our silly roomie pictures, but none of the "serious" ones (did you or Em have the reverse??). Loved seeing that one here.
Loved your characterizations of everyone else, too. You've articulated well much of what I've thought. Eventually, I'll write a recap, too. For now? This one does one heckuva job!
xo
super fabulous extraordinary time.
so glad we were able to hang out again (even if you did post that horrible photo of me - oh to be photogenic like you and Emily and Robin...)
xo~K
WHAT a blast! Thanks for the recap. Wish I could have been there.
My jaw is still gaping at $3.99 shoes. I NEVER would have guessed.
Loved your re-cap post, loved meeting you. I totally resonated with what you said on the panel because I'm the same kind of blogger.
Flying by the seat of my pants. :)
I'm one of those bloggers who has NEVER met another blogger.
I'm an introvert at heart, a loner, really.
I blog because I love to write (in the privacy of my home without an real live audience).
I've never had the guts to attend something like this.
Until now.
You stirred a little something in me.
Congrats and I am so proud for you! And a little envious. Okay moderately envious. You are so blessed.
What a wonderful time you had. You are such a doll.... both inside and out... I can just tell.
Leslie
What a wonderful post. There are quite a few bloggers I would love to meet! How fun was that!!! So well-written..wish I was there!

What a great event. Too bad I'm so far away! Nester, regarding your Super Wednesday Homecraft Smackdown... I wanted to add my etsy shop. Here's the link:http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6363762
Okay, long I know. I somehow missed the whole part about a simple name. The shop name is PrettyOrganized and someday when I'm ReallyOrganized I'll figure out how to put PrettyOrganized next to the esty name. Maybe you could shed some light with your expertise. Hope you can check it out! Thanks!
I like when you write! I liked your summary of how bloggers are so different yet still attract many. I just want to say that you and emily and many friends you mentioned are just so darn real it makes it fun to keep coming back to ya!
What a good time! I can't wait to visit all these great blogs!
Breakfast was definitely a good time! In case you didn't notice anything with Kim is a good story and MOST of them make your eyes bulge. LOL! So glad we got to do it and hopefully we can come your way next. =)
annon,
You are NOT too late!
But, just come back here on Wednesday and you can link yourself up!
Can't wait!
No need to waste your precious time with tutorials. I figured out the etsy thing! Here's the shop in simplified form for Wednesday Linky:

Nutshell: Fabulous hat boxes.
Oh Nester, I ADORED meeting you. I really had a ball, and you were truly the icing on my cake! I was bummed to catch a 6 a.m. flight and not get to say goodbye to you... But I hope to see you again soon.
And I, too, loved your shoes.
I truly hope that one day I am able to have a weekend like that and walk away feeling as blessed as you. Sounds perfectly wonderful.
OH! That looks like such fun! I knew that I should've gone...
I wish I could have gone :(
How cool is that?! I was upset that I didnt get to go, but I am so glad everyone that did go had a wonderful time! I would love to get together with other bloggers, maybe I should try to set that up! :)
*on twitter* so why drop bh ads? i really need to go to some blogging event and learn something. i hate not knowing stuff.
I'm up waaaay too late, soaking in the last bits of Blissdom I can wring out of the attendees' blogs. It was a GREAT conference but I didn't have enough time to meet everyone - including you. I *will* be there for the next one in February and hope to grab your ear for a quick "hi!"
For all your fabulous decorating, I think that this was my favorite post that you've ever done! A group of us have a secret bloggy meeting coming up and I can't wait to meet these women I have come to know and love through blogs. And I just love seeing you and Emily together. I tell ya---if you ever want that extra, weird-looking, akward sister....just adopt me :)!
p.s. I want to marry that hotel and have its ultra chic babies!!!
It took me hours to read this because I had to go check out all your friends blogs and got sucked into most of them for at least 10 minutes before realizing I needed to get back over to N.P. and finish reading this post.
I want a pink crayon dress. I love pink.
How fun was that? I was tempted but I was in TX. Then again, I probably would have chickened out going all by my lonesome. Glad you all had a blast!
You are just adorable. I also heard you were sporting some rocking shoes this weekend by Moriah at Please Pass the Salt. I wish she had taken a picture to share the shoe awesomeness :)
PS I love your blog.
I SO wish I could have gone to this! Had a family trip already planned that was wonderful too. I will definitely get in on the next one. Glad ya'll had a great time. Of course, I'd love to meet you too!
Hey - I have that same light aqua sweater you're wearing in the last pic with your sis! :-)
Sounds like a great event!
Wow. That sounds so awesome. I'm new to blogging and hope to make it there someday.
How fun!
Great idea to link us to other ladies that sell homemade products! Good for you!

Hi there Nester,
I too have had the awesome opportunity of meeting both your sister, Karla and Robin at She Speaks this year. What a privelege! I sure wish I could have joined ya'll for Blissdom 08 and I sure hope I can meet you one day. I think we ALL would be instant friends. :)
I loved hearing about that conference!
I'm going to have to check here more for fabulous fall decor tips! :) The only fall decor I have right now is the pumpkins on my front porch!
Thanks for sharing!
Hey girl! It was so fabulous meeting you and your fabulousness. :)
I didn't hear the part about mommybloggers not getting 1K hits a day, because if I had I would've corrected them. Many mombloggers are already doing that, many are on their way there.
In the end, the information was the panelists opinions, and we can learn from it and take from it whatever helps us. I totally agree with everything you said, thanks for talking about it! :)
`Arianne
I just loved meeting you!!! I'm so happy I spent my Saturday hanging out with the coolest chicks on the Web. :)
What a fabulous post!!!!!!
I truly enjoyed BlissDom and I'm so glad I went. I only found out about it a week before so I was blessed that there was still space!!!! Thank you for sharing your insight and success!!!!!! LOVE your blog!!!!!
This post says so much about the whole blogging world, doesn't it? The blogosphere is full of amazing people, almost all of whom are interesting, talented individuals with something real to say. I love it.
This was my first visit to your site, but I'll surely be back again soon.
