I {heart} toile.

If you need a quick toile fix you can get you a wooden egg from the craft store and mod podge {or just water down some elmers glue} and some decoupage papers from the craft store and make you a toile egg. Simply tear the paper where you need to so it will fit on the egg and because it's toile you can over lap and it still looks fine.
For this egg, I used some craft paint in an off white first so it wouldn't show the wood grain. Then I painted on a layer of mod podge then I laid on some tissue paper then I painted more podgy stuff over it and let it dry. Easy! I've had it for years.

Looks pretty in an apothecary jar with some of my favorite stuff.

Toile looks great mixed with plaid.

Did I mention it looks great mixed with plaid?

My toile parsons chairs are filthy but because they are a pattern it hides some of the dirt. Right?

Oh, and I have a toile sofa as well. It's 5 years old and the shop that made is is closed now. I have to answer at least one email per day with that information. Apparently y'all love you some toile.

Toile, plaid, patterns--I love it all sorts of patterns mingled in one room. When all the fabrics have the same undertone, it's amazing what can work together.
Be sure to visit the Toile Party over at Pretty Orgainzed Palace today to get your toile fix!
Do you decorate with toile?

When we lived in our little farmhouse in PA I wallpapered the staircase wall with Toile. I didn't even know how to say toile at the time, coming from Idaho and all. :) Just knew that I loved it. It was the red pattern like your sofa, and the rest of the walls were yellow - it sounds crazy, but it looked great. I am going to have to go dig through my old pictures and find a photo and post it. I miss that old house.
I love the eggs, I'll have to try that this weekend. The only toile I have are 2 tablecloths I only use at Christmas... maybe I'll have to re-purpose those so I can enjoy it year round. Thanks for the great post!
I do like toile, but think a little goes a long way.
Love the egg - it would look good as a tassle topper.
I did the same paper method with a letter you hang on the wall - in toile.

I heart toile, too! And your egg demo has given me some inspiration! I have a large wooden pear from the clearance aisle at Hobby Lobby ($1.67) that I hate the color of. I am going to get out the mod podge and some scrapbook paper! Thanks for the idea! I love mixing the toile with plaids--awesome!
I just want to thank you for teaching me the proper way to pronounce the word "Toile" which I at first mistook for a typo for "toilet" and then thought sounded like those little lace things you put on the table...doile? It all just makes me want to go work on the boat and get oily...but really that would be called greasy. Have a great day...Tim
Hubby is going to love me when I recover the couch. LOL! Love the toile. And the eggs. That would be a fun craft project for the kids.
That toile egg is too cute! I do love the toile and have quite a bit of it in my house, but no eggs yet. :-)
Lovely toile everything! I like how the toile way it looks with your plaid things! Thanks for sharing your pretty home!
Manuela
i have small touches of toile in my kitchen -- a ruffle under the sink. i also decorate some of my cottage clips (aka clothespins) with toile. it's lovely!
I love all your toile. It is fun and romantic at the same time. I'm going to make me some eggs too! Thanks for sharing.
Blessings,
Sandi
All your toile is beautiful and your home is so comfortable!
The egg is WAAYY cute! I just bought Modge Podge so I think I'll work on some eggs first. Sounds like a great, easy project for someone with a short attention span like me!

Everything is so pretty and I am definitely going to make some of those eggs.. great idea!
I {hear} toile too and am realizing how much it is missing from my life right now. Those egss might be just the right touch to start bringin' it all back!! Yay, for toile! Thanks! :-D
Toile is a classic! love it. Not sure though if I could mix it in my study that I am redoing. I have tried, but not sure it's happy beside near the zebra print! Any thoughts????
Hugs,
Susan
I have always loved your toile couch...it just makes me want to run over in front of it and pass out on it. I love it that much. (Your making a mental note never to invite me over, aren't you?)
Oh my goodness- love the toile egg- definitely going to try that- I used to have a black toile bedroom "theme" I may need to bring it back-
Thanks
My baby girl's room has toile, plaid and polka dots... go figure! It works. LOVE IT!
Love your living room curtains!!!
every.room.of.the.house...and then some - all the kids rooms, nursery, master is all yellow and blue toile...just love it and never tire of it...i want to try the eggs! cute idea!
I just noticed your new furniture arrangement. I remember that you said you were doing that but you never showed pictures. Can you show more pictures of the new arrangment, PLEASE?? Love your blog and your style!!!!
No toile in my home.. not one drop, but I may consider it if I ever redecorate, but only in very small amounts. Too much toile is just not a good thing unless you want the home to look completely feminine as if a man does not live there. Definitely gives a girly look.

(Love the eggs!)
Love your egg - it would look great even past Easter! I love toile, but alas, my hubby does not. We have to keep it in check around here.
LOVE me some toile too!!! Can anyone ever tire of toile? I think not! It's timeless! And thanks for the great toile egg idea; it looks easy and is such a great way to tie in Easter decor with everyday decor! As always, LOVE the Nester! :-)
I love, love, toile. Every piece of toile in your house I absolutely adore. If you ever get tired of any of it, you could always send it my way.

Oh Nester, you know how we all love your toile. I'll be if the company that made your sofa opened back up, they could make a fortune on just toile sofas.
Oh, that sofa makes my heart flutter! Too bad I can't have one. But the egg. At least I can do the egg, and that give me some comfort.
Ok, I LOVE those toile eggs. What would I do without you to show me fab craft/accesorizing projects?

Chari
I have a toile chair that me and hubs bought. We got the chair at Dillards and I chose the toile pattern. It's the same fabric you have on your sofa. We love it and it's momma's chair. I love to sit and have coffee in it. Kids love it too :)Toile shams on the bed. That's about it.
I am crazy about toile!!! Really, really heart it! I have something toile in each room of my house. Thanks for the egg project. I am going to make some of those! I have to go into San Antonio for a baseball game today. I may have to stop by Hobby Lobby.
Oh yes, I decorate with toile, toile and more toile. I heart your sofa. Really love it. And I may just be making me some toile eggs - great idea! Thanks Nester!
I am slowly getting into toile.I am loving me that couch of yours! Stop over for the make over party tomorrow! Jen
I love the idea with the eggs. So classy and so easy. Thank you.
Someone help me!
How do you pronouce toile?
TOILE:
it sounds like "twal"
it rhymes with:
mall
ball
y'all
I'm loving the egg idea~Martha had some mod-podge eggs in her magazine this month using decorative paper napkins as well. Love the cotton too! :)
I love it to! I went over and checked out the party and blogged about you too. It is so fun to be part of your flock!!!
Hi, came over from the toile party. Oh, love your toile egg! What a cute idea. And your couch is so cool ; ) Jannet
Toile is amazing stuff--one day--after medical school--I hope to cover my house in toile and plaid--'till then, it's whatever fabric is 2$ a yard at Wal-Mart :D. . . I could make a cute egg though :D. . . thanks for the inspiration.
I'm about read to pee my pants after reading the comment from Remodeling Guy. I guess I need to go use my toile.
Love your toile egg! You should make it into a tassel! A toile egg tassel! That would most definitely be a Nester original. You're welcome.
And you need to change the title of this post to "Toile for Y'all". Bossy am I today.
Kimba
Love that sofa!!! Great idea for the egg also.
Carolyn
LOVE the toile egg!
Oh, yes! I so {heart} toile.
Love, LOVE, L.O.V.E. me some toile, y'all.
Sigh ...
As a matter of fact, our master bathroom is being remodeled right now, and the contractor wants to know what color I want it painted. Uh, wonder if I can get him to wallpaper it with a celadon and cream toile pattern for the same price as a paint job?! :-)
Perfect, perfect, perfect! I'm making up a huge stash of eggs for our Easter dinner table...hmmm, perfect little placecards/gifts for the family coming, as well. Thanks, mama, for that grande idea!
Oh, toile, how I'm devoted to you!
(and how I love mod-podge but never use it for anything, LOL)
I know, I know, I need to get me some toile. I have a toile bag, and a small piece of toile fabric in a corner cabinet. This year, I am on the mad hunt for toile at yard sales....and I 'll find it.
Must...make...that...EGG!!! That is the cutest toile thing I've ever seen.
I know...I don't get out much.
A Toile Egg? Who'da Thunk! You have the most AMAZING ideas Nester. Pure genius girl. I bet that egg would look good in damask too:) Great posty. Thanks for putt'n up with all my questions and supporting me in my first party. Love you!
Pretty Organizer
I love your ideas- keep up the great work. This world needs more uplifting people in it like you friend....
Ashly
I love toile, too! I have 2 toile chairs and two toile lampshades. I also use toile in quilts.
This is funny: I went into a small fabric store and asked the owner if she had some toile (pronoucning it the correct way). She asked what it was and I described what the fabric might would look like. She said "Oh! You're looking for Toe lee! It was hard to keep from laughing out loud. Needless to say she didn't have any.
I love your toile ideas. Toile with an animal print is pretty, too.
Toile is one of my best friends! Love it!!
Oh I love, LOVE toile!!!! I don't have ANY of it in my current home. Which is SUCH a shame.
I just finished writing (begging) Home Reserve to consider carrying that beautiful bright red/cream toile as a fabric choice. I love your sectional that much. Home Reserve is equivalent to IKEA, I would say. I love the Williams Sonoma toile sofa that you posted about, but alas the Dave Ramsey side of me won't let me spend that much (yet)
are you kidding?! I was "toile" at 12 years old (25 years ago)! My mother loved it...and I still am "toile" today! Is it a Southern thing?
I think I fell in love with your blog the moment I saw your sofa...thanks for helping us all keep it real.
I'm a little late reading this post, but i LOVE toile also. I CANT GET ENOUGH OF IT!!!!
And plaid is a must also! They're just so YUMMY!!!
