NieNie

If you didn't see the entire story of the beloved NieNie from the NieNie Dialogs on Oprah yesterday, you missed out. Here's a link to a part of the show where a mom comes to visit NieNie to see what she does every day, how she does it, and how much she cherishes the mundane tasks that we all take for granted.

After watching that piece, Oprah calls the boring, routine everyday things that moms do "sacred". It was one of Oprah's finest moments. And those sacred mundane things are part of what NieNie said motivated her to live.

It was a fantastic show. If you know where I can get the link to the whole part about her, let me know and I'll link to it here.

Go Nie Nie! Thank you so much for sharing your story! We love you and your beautiful and lovely self!

31 Days will be up in a bit.

I was thrilled to be able to watch Nie Nie on Oprah yesterday. And just like you, I was awed that Oprah chose the word "Sacred" for the things we do as mothers. That is always how I have viewed motherhood. Although I don't always feel like I am treating my everyday tasks that way. I try, but I fall short. Stephanie is such an inspiration. A very beautiful person through and through!!

I didn't know this was on until too late, and I don't normally watch Oprah, so I missed Steph! I, too watched the video earlier. It made me cry. She is such a lovely and inspiring young woman and mother. I found her blog just a day or two after the accident and have been following her since then. She is truly a beautiful person.

It was an incredible show, featuring incredible stories. I have heard Oprah talk about parenting, mothering as the most important job on the planet, but to call the everyday things we do Sacred was pretty incredible.

I didn't see the begining so didn't understand what had happened to NieNie and her husband. Went to oprah.com and read about them. What a sad but inspiring story. NieNie is amazing!

Wasn't she just beautiful! Her eyes!!! Her aura. I loved her before the accident, and I completely understand how Christian is even more in love with her now. Ladies, welcome fine lines and wrinkles and worry about living life to the fullest.

I watched....had been so excited the she was going to be on...I read her blog for about a year before the accident and then have continnued to read since the accident...what a special lady and family.

For some reason the other mom really rubbed me the wrong way. Especially when she saw the picture and said: "You WERE beautiful." And then said that her husband still looks at her like she's beautiful no matter how she looks. I just felt really uncomfortable at her comments.

I am in awe of Nie and her husband. She is so inspiring. When Oprah called the everyday things we do with our kiddos "sacred" I was touched, she went up a few notches in my book. She is such an example of true beauty.

If "Nie" can do it, we all can... That was one of Oprah's greatest shows. Really made me stop and rethink my job as a mom & wife.

I haven't seen the Oprah story but I did see the interview. It was very humbling. I take so much for granted.

I was so sad that I was working and was unable to watch her on Oprah. I rarely have any desire to tune in unless there is something that is worth watching. And this beautiful, strong woman was definitely someone I wanted to watch. I have read her blog and she is such an inspiration. A woman who delights in the mundane after she came so close to leaving her family behind. Thanks for sharing the link. I hope the full video becomes available too.

Thanks for posting this. For some reason I missed that show. It's heartbreaking to say the least, at the same time it's very inspiring, showing that life's essence is deeper than the surface, looks and circumstances.

I watched it last night on DVR about midnight - crying the entire time. She just looked beautiful - and LOVED that sweater she was wearing! And when it was over I shuffled down the hall, still crying, and laid down with my sweet, sweaty, sleeping 3yo son and gave him about a thousand kisses.

I posted about this yesterday as well - it was such a great show and very inspirational. I already loved Stephanie, but now I am just enamored by her strength.

I do not watch Oprah - I know I may be the only female that doesn't but I did tune in just to see NieNie. She is a hero on so many levels. I was so glad to see that Oprah realizes the impact that Steph's blog has on so many.

I watched it with my 2 older kids. I wanted them to see who we had prayed for. I cried. And I made my kids lunches early this morning with pride. It's an honor to do something so sacred. Thanks, Nie for reminding me.

I'm not a huge Oprah fan, but I totally Tivo'd the show. When she said motherhood was sacred, it made me proud, too.

I totally stumbled on them yesterday and was so thankful to have seen it. What a great show and great example/reminder of what's really MOST important in our lives. Blessings to their whole family.

Hillary @ The Other Mama said...

Completely agree. I almost deleted from my tivo before I saw something on twitter about it. What would we do without all this info at our fingertips.
Now if only I could have found a way to not feel guilty about ignoring my children while watching it this morning- during the part where it was talking about enjoying your children. I did turn it off and play... eventually. :)

Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality said...

Oh, I saw it too, amazing story. I had not really followed NieNie's story all that closely after it happened, but wow, what inspiration she is. She has such a beautiful smile that shines through the pain.

Nancy @ Live love laugh said...

I had just "met" Stephanie shortly before the accident and then when it happened-kept reading her past posts and praying. She is remarkable and so is her wonderful family. So much love there. I was so excited to see her yesterday and it was beautiful.

I just watched it on my DVR this afternoon...and cried my way through pretty much the entire episode. Nie Nie was beautiful and joy just radiated from her. The visit she did with the other mom was so insightful. It was an inspirational segment and I'm so glad that America got to see the Stephanie that her blog readers already know!

Pamela said...

Such an inspiration she is! I wish there was a way to view the entire segment on her!:( Oprah should do an entire show on her.

Kat Farmer said...

She is one strong woman! Glad to see her strive to regain her strength as time goes on and continue to be a super mom! :)

I was very happy to see that segment yesterday and find her blog. Inspirational.

I found Stephanie's blog in Feb. 08and it was just what I needed at that point in my life to lift my spirits and inspire me as a Mom (winters are long in Minnesota). She was and is such an inspiration. I was happy that Oprah interviewed her, but I felt that the entire hour should have been dedicated to Stephanie's story. There's just so many wonderful things about Stephanie that should have been share with the world. Anyway, I went to Oprah's website re-watch the video clip and for some reason my eyes zoned in on Nie's entry wallpaper. Did you see it? It is so her and so cute. There were birdie's on it!
