Well, it's the ugliest thing next to me when I cannot find the icing to my toaster strudel. It's awful.
I trust you not to laugh and reject me because of this abomination. Remember, we are renting.
It's like something Donald Trump would pick out only worse. Cheaper. Like something his tightwad, uglier twin brother Ronald Trump would have in his trailer. If trailers were two stories.
As June would say--Iraq called and wants its chandelier back.
If you have one of these and love it and saved every last penny to purchase it, I am so sorry. For you.
PS:
Dear friends, please help me understand something. I wrote a few posts this weekend and saved them so I could publish them later. I was trying to be all cool and prepared and all. Well, of course, I accidentally hit publish post, and freaked out, quickly tripped over myself as my family watched in horror while I put the post back into edit mode. It was out for 45 seconds. But, I know that it really got out there. Aubrey told me she read it on google reader. Help!! Why does it do that?
Also, what if I edit something? Does that clog up the internet and make my post post twice on your reader things? I notice lots of people alert others when they edit and add it to the bottom. I am a horrible writer and speller and even after many proofs by me, I always seem to find things after I post it. It's not good to edit at that point is it? Why not? What happens?
PPS
I edited this because I forgot to change the date and I want it to say Sunday not Friday. See my problem!!
PPPS or is it PSSS?
I edited again because I forgot to link to Aubrey.
PPPPS
edited again to link to June....
P whatever
edited again to edit my edit from "day Sunday" to "say Sunday" it's neverending

That looks just like the space above my entryway, except mine is an ugly brass builder chandelier with dusty glass. :-0 Some of my neighbors have your version, along with gold lions on the front porch.
I'll be posting pictures this week of my newly painted bedroom (oh yes, tobacco road) and my new curtains. I'll let you know when they're up. Thanks for the inspiration! Have a great Sunday.

Perhaps it's Blogger. I am pretty sure Wordpress does not show an edit of an existing post as a new entry. I do it all the time and have never had that happen. I am not familiar with Blogger but perhaps there is a "settings" page on your control board that gives you options.
((hugs)) Rosie
LOL, I think everyone has had something like that that they dislike.
I'm not sure how the edits show up. I edit mine all the time. Sometimes I just can't seem to get it right.
Hugs,
Nan
It's so encouraging to hear you discuss editing posts that have already been published. No matter how many times I read the thing over I always have a change or two once it is published. Unfortunately, I am too new at this to give you any pointers and too lazy to look up the answer on the Blogger Help Center.
I don't use the reader thing so I can't tell you if it shows up twice, but I have often wondered if the 3 people that read my blog use it and get 14 messages about the same post.
By the way, how do you edit the date? Sometimes I start something and don't finish it until the next day. I want it to reflect the correct date so as not to confuse all my loyal readers.
that's what I like about you...you can always make a frustrating situation FUNNY! thanks for the paint post...I loved it.
I was looking at my sitemeter, because I love me, and saw 850 people coming from your site to mine. I was all, "Why?"
Iraq called and wants its chandelier back. Heeeeee.
Actually? I think that chandelier is kind of pretty. But my decorating style runs more toward Marie Antoinette with a glitter pen.
Goode Evening,
I really have enjoyed your "Just to the point" attitude here. That is the way I think it should be... I agree with you on the chandelier I have one or two small things in the home I need to switch out like... my kitchen cabinet knobs... what was I thinking???????? Have a marvelous evening, Pamela at Beehind Thyme
I am so glad you posted this because I have only been blogging regularly for about a month and there are always things I run into that I just don't know how to do... and what I look up makes no sense to me at all... I may need a support group!
Thank you for stopping by my site and commenting! I have challenged myself that even though I have a different sort of blog I want to link to some of my favorite entertainment sometimes... Do love reading and staring at all your pictures (and glad it isn't perfect!)
wow. "Frantic" pretty much covers that whole post. I have no answers for you though...
I laughed through your entire post. I had a chandelier like that once, in my old house. But, it was much LARGER and the glass was that smoky 70's/80's brownish color. AND, the house was only 1500 square feet. Yes, it did indeed, hang in my entry. We never replaced it because we weren't ever planning on staying there. Believe it or not, the people who now own the home LOVE the chandelier. Go figure. There's no accounting for taste, huh? (By the way, I did not buy that chandelier - it came with the house.)
As for editing in blogger - I do it all the time. I don't think the post has ever shown up twice. Usually I post my stuff, read it, find a million mistakes and go right back in and edit it. Then I repeat that same scenario about 3 times. I also haven't found the blogger tutorials, or whatever they are, to be that helpful.
Ewwwww...that ceiling fixture reminds me a lot of the early 1980's ceiling fan in our upper foyer. Yarf. :o)
Wanted to let you know that I stopped by our Michael's and got you some .49 tassels, girlie! I got 6: one black/brown, 2 gold, 1 sage green, one brown and 2 brown and brick red (just different styles). E-mail me at mrskwilt (at) yahoo (dot) com and I'll ship 'em off to you! :o)
PS- Would black spray paint work on that chandelier? Just a thought...LOL
Nester, the chandelier. Well, I had a similar one at my former house ...but it did not have the crystals, Just "candlesticks" I spray [painted it black and viola! Put some cute shades on and it looked like a million bucks. Spray paint is our friend. I guess since yours is rented, you can't Paint? By the way, I love, love, love my tassels from your etsy store. I am adicted to them and possible may need more. I will try to post them in their new home. They are loved.
Hahahaha. My MIL has this in her entry. Hahahaha. Victory is mine!!!
Anyway, I really like the music on your site.
You're one of my friends on EW, and this is my first opportunity to read your blog, which is lovely.
And I love the hot glue gun, except when RECARO told me to hot glue the head piece back onto my daughter's car seat.
I did think Donald Trump when I saw that !!!!
It didn't show up twice for me. It's kindof nice to know that there are other people who edit their posts 15 times after the first publishing. I thought I was over-anal.
So, I am I going to be famous now? Do I need to make my posts more interesting?
That light would drive me crazy too......but my first thought was "it's not your fault....you're renting"
Now for the rest of your post......you think too much. :)
god, I hope not, then my 2 loyal readers would be pissed!
From one Nester to another, can you hang and swing from that thing?
And I am a new blogger and cannot answer any of your questions - sorry!
I say throw it in the garage and get yourself one of those cool artichoke-style mid-century modern numbers for $25 from IKEA. They blend with everything. And then if the guy really wants his golden lovelie put back up when you move onto your dream home re-built (you're gonna get there too girl!), you can always dig it out of storage.
Wish I could give you some advice on the posting/editing thing, but I'm uberstupid when it comes to all that. Just ask the 3 boybarians mom whom I was certain gave my computer some giantress font.
Oh, I just thought of something--the chandelier looks like Supermans Fortress of Solitude--you know the place he can pull out all the crystals and plug them in somewhere else to play his home movies. :)
But it's ok to have a little ugly in your house to make all the pretty a little prettier!
*lol* It's PPPPPPPS.... since PS is post scriptum (after writing) and anything AFTER that is post post scriptum, only the P's increase ;)
greetings from the netherlands!
It certainly is very Trump-elicious.
Perhaps we should all bow our heads and say a little prayer for me, on account of how I love the ugliest thing in your house. Seriously. Gaudy chandeliers? Love them.
You crack me up. I will say this... the chandelier does not look like your style at all. :) It is so frusterating when you want to change something but cant do it without scaffolding. My mom wants to change the wallpaper in her foyer/stairway. The thought of her doing it, or me doing it, scares me to death. I told her to hire someone!
I repost and change stuff all the time. Eek!
Hello me,
just seeing if my new email is working.
fingers crossed.
it's not.
one more time.
comment padding.
nut uh...that's in a casino...
Wow, what a beaut! I have the mini version and have been dying to change it since we've moved in. Hasn't been a top priority, it probably should be!
Ohhh.. I was searching Ebay for a new light fixture for my daughter's room.. something girlie, you know, and one exactly like that was listed.. and they wanted A LOT of money for it~ "Call the 80's, they want their Chandelier back" seems to be a theme in some of the rentals we've lived in too.. I swear, renters have taste too, you've proven that by looking around your home~
Keep all of your wonderful thoughts coming.. I enjoy visiting your Nest!
You are so funny! It doesn't normally show up twice unless you save the original post and than publish it again...otherwise the first post published is the one that makes it on google reader...which is bad for me since sometimes I go back a couple times to fix spelling errors.
I visit daily and this was the one time I have to say something and that is: the chandelier is drop dead gorgeous as in I hope it drops
dead/ gorgeous nester.
Hilarious post! The chandelier is pretty awful. I love your postscripts. I can't answer your questions. I edit all the time after the fact though. Usually stupid things I didn't see before.
Just wanted you to know I do the edit thing again and again--much to my feed reader's dismay, I'm sure!
Blogger does have a "Preview" button, but I find that I think of tweaking a word only after I walk away from the computer.
Sometimes it will come back across Bloglines and Google reader, sometimes not. It all depends on when you made the edits and whether the feed reader has already "crawled" your site yet.
At least that light is hung so ridiculously high that you almost don't see it.
LOL! I'm here from Bye Bye Buy (or now Pie, I guess). You've probably been told this 30 times already ( I see you have over 30 comments on this post) but since I never let being repetitive stop me before, I'll tell you that Blogger does re-post on the feed readers when you edit an existing post. Other platforms do not. One of the many reasons I love Typepad.
I love your Valentine decorating, by the way.
Nester,
I always, always, always edit my posts. I seriously cannot see my errors until I post. Then they right there in my face! So, I edit and publish my post again. When I publish again, it posts over top of the blemished one.
We just bought our house and I think mine was equally as ugly as yours. Luckily I now have a new one. You can see it at http://southernseven.blogspot.com/2008/01/new-chandalier.html. Is the wall faux painted or is the chandalier making it looked striped? My old one would make stripes of light on the ceiling and walls. It drove me crazy.
Do you think Ronald Trump has the same comb over? Thanks for the glimpse into his trailer -- ain't it sumpthin'?
Have you found out anything about the editing? I do the same thing all the time, and wondered if people get e-mail after e-mail that I've posted something new, when I'm just going back to follow the"i before e, except after c" rule. Let us lazy ones know...
its not enough that your country has destroyed iraq, you must also poke fun, you couldn't pick anyother country? I am horrified that your readers were laughing at this and I am quite sure my comment will not be published so please refrain from poking fun at a country that no longer has 24 hour eletricity thanks to your country's foreign policy and Thank God that you have a safe home however ugly you consider your lighting fixture.
Dear anynon,
You are right, at least about the part about being thankful for electricity and a safe home. Thank you for bringing that to my attention and please forgive me if I offended you. I know that I take that for granted all too often. If it's any consolation, I was gonna say Saddam Hussein but I wasn't sure how to spell it.
Dear Ronald Trump,
Please forgive me for mocking you. If you exist.
Now that I have managed to offend an entire nation and a very powerful man's pretend twin brother, I think I have been put in my proper place.
I am so impressed that you have taken the time to respond and that you have acknowledged that it might be hurtful, it takes a great woman to do that and still maintain her sense of humour, I am sure Mr. Trump is equally appeased. I wish you all the best and prettier light fixtures in the future.
#1. I should have come here first for my 'post script' tutorial before completely butchering my email to you earlier today. (psss vs ppps)
#2. You have 40 comments
#3. You will have 41 after I leave mine
#4. I know Ronald personally and am truly hurt that you could stoop so low.
#5. BFF's forever.
#6. I'm probably going to get hatemail after comment #4
OMG we just replaced that EXACT SAME LIGHT IN OUR FOYER - funny - it wasn't what the builder installed - the previous owner actually picked it out and paid someone to install it. And there was a matching one in our kitchen (also gone - but long, long ago)
I'm reading old posts and really enjoying your wit. You are so funny. I love all your hints on how to decorate without spending loads of money. I too do not have granite counters and even though they are pretty I don't plan to ever have them. I am tired of hearing realtors on the HGTV channel poo poo a house that doesn't have them. Not everyone can afford them nor want them. Thanks for sharing your home and life with us. I'm not a blogger yet but hope to one of these days. Keep us the amusing posts.
