Yesterday was my sister's birthday and I got to spend most of the day with her and my mom and have fun looking at stuff and for stuff for her new old house! It was the most fun ever! My favorite things all rolled into one glorious day. We even had some mocha chocolate cake from Maxie B's {remember, that bakery I helped redesign}? We even shopped at a REAL lighting store and picked out and purchased 3 much needed, perfect for her home, light fixtures. That was better than Disney World! Such fun! And since I charged my camera battery, packed my camera extra special and failed to even remove it from the car, and since I wouldn't dare write so many words without balancing it out with a few photos, here is not a photo of my beloved sister but, a photo of the beloved finished product of Maxie B's. Enjoy.
Also, yesterday and Monday y'all had some fantastic ideas about that garland! You girls do not waste a minute! Within hours of my post you were sending me emails and links and I am so in love with all of you! If you didn't read the comments from the garland post, it's worth the read because there are some great ideas! And, as usual, Tracey and Traci both keep me laughing!
Here's some of your ideas and some of mine for what we can do with that garland:
*put it on the end of a pillowcase
*put it on the edges of a decorative pillow
*use it as a centerpiece at a child's birthday party
*drape it around your chandelier
*start now, make a loooooong one, get a finger transplant and hang it {the garland not your fingers} on the tree at Christmas
*Tie that ribbon and fabric all over your flip flops
*wrap it around your diaper bag
*add it to your window mistreatment for one huge act of window abuse!
*and there were other's listed but, I'm too lazy to go read it again!
Also, I have tons of ribbon and fabric lying, laying around. I listed a starter kit on my etsy shop for the garland and it sold so by this afternoon I will list a few more coordinating kits if any of you want a jump start on this project. It is nice not to have to go to lots of different shops to get cute fabric that will look great together. And ribbon, I think I have an illegal amount. Talk to you later, and keep those ideas coming! I was thinking about making some garland for my niece's bedroom. Then I thought about how lazy I am and changed my mind. Now I'm reconsidering because if everybody's doing it, I might as well give it a shot.
I've done the ribbon garland thing around a wreath. I used a heart-shaped grapevine wreath and it took for.ever. but turned out SOOOOO cute. I just tied scraps and ribbons on all the sticks.
Dont you just love spending the day with your sister. This Sat. a subdivison in town is going to have a huge house to house garage sale. Can I tell you... Im losing sleep over it! I just cant stand the wait. I hope to spend a great day with my sister and to top it off with things I cant live without. Im sure I will be showing off all of my goodies, smile.... I celebrated too yesterday... I SHARE your sister's birthday.. although mine was the big 40! Although, my daughter whom is 3 said I was 54! Feeling it today!
That Bakery is so beautiful. You, Ms. Nester have been given an extraordinary gift of decorating. I could live in that place.

What a cute bakery! Isn't that the one with the blue leopard print booths? I bet you had a great time shopping with your mom and sis. I'm going to add the rag garland to my list of projects to make that I really want to make and I'll someday get around to. It's a long list. I should really stop reading blogs and getting all these ideas for things to make.
So many crafty good ideas! I really like the Christmas tree idea. That would work great for a homemade type tree!

My best friend made me garland very similar to yours for my Christmas tree one year. She added bells every half a foot or so. It's adorable!

Ok, I finished my garland today. I kind of love it... not sure yet. I hung it above my kitchen window - kind of like a mistreatment in itself, dont you think? I hung a silver key chain initial from it - I would like to get the letters E-A-T for it eventually...

I like your garland, but it's too uniform. I think you need to trim down the fabric (it seems really long) and try to make it less neat. Maybe smush it up a bit. I love the colors and really like the keychain letter.
I'm impressed you got it done so quickly! I've barely started mine.

CK&X got the link to work and WOWSERS!!! That garland is lush! AP is right about if you want it to look more like the one I posted just add some shorter ribbon in there. YOurs is long and I really like it that way--you are right, it works like its own mistreatment! LOVE IT! Love the keychain, you can tuck all sorts of neat stuff in there!
