Bird Watching

You really need to see this door that Sissy painted. Don't feel ashamed by her talent, she's one of those artist types.

And Amy over at Heart of the Matter, my favorite homeschool magazine/website interviewed me as their featured homeshooler this week. I managed to embarrass myself quite nicely. You can read it and weep here {when you get there just keep scrolling down, you'll eventually see it}.

Great article Nester! I am a former teacher but could never imagine homeschooling my boy, we'd kill each other. ha ha! Sounds like you are doing a wonderful job at it though. Thanks for sharing that with us.

Ahh, I feel so silly--I have come to your blog several times, and could never find a place to comment--I knew there had to be somewhere at the bottom of your post--and then I finally saw, the little birds say..LOL.. Your blog is just beautiful!

loved the interview, you seem like such a great person to strike up a conversation with and that totally came through.

i am still amazed that you are able to homeschool, run a business and keep a clean and cute house.

Dear Nester, I subscribed to your blog on Google Reader a couple of months ago. I love your ideas! I just read your interview with Amy - every word - and I think you are a remarkable lady. A good role model for me (a first time home owner and new mommy)! Thank you for sharing yourself (your life, inspirations, and ideas) with us (me). Thank you for giving me the courage to put holes in my brand new walls! And to try new things. AND to be myself, even if people "hate me" for it. You're great :)

I loved learning more about you, and I love your birds! Are they from Hobby Lobby? or do you do ceramics on the side in your spare time? :)

Thanks for "keeping it real" in the article! You're inspiring! I also loved the door project...that will be added to my list since I have nothing above my bed right now and a door or two just sitting in my garage!

Congratulations on your first year of homeschooling!
When we started with our oldest child, we took it year by year. Somewhere around year 5, we just said we are in this for the long haul! Now we have been homeschooling for 14 years, and graduated that oldest child last year! I only have 5 more kids to go! It honestly has become a lifestyle of learning for us.

I loved the interview!

If my husband finds out your son is a Jeff Gordon fan he won't let me read your blog anymore. Let's pray he doesn't stumble upon this interview!

I loved reading your interview. I have an incredibly unusual name too which is why I don't use it as my bloggy name 'cause I thought I'd get all kinds of wierd questions and it would be so identifiable. It never even occurred to me that people might be able to find stuff like tax records with it! Yikes!

I've been wanting to come up with a "plan" for each room in my home too, just like you described, but I haven't been successful at that so far. Thank you so much for the inspiration from your interview!

Nester, I'll be homeschooling mon petit this coming year (1st grade). Any chance you could post a pic of your school room? I'd love to see it. I'm tres nervous, but also excited about the upcoming school year. I'd like to get a peek at your set up. Actually, I'd just like to see more of your house. :) Pretty please?

Are those birdies in the picture from Hobby Lobby? I saw them there, (for about $4 each!) and have wanted them... but didn't know what in the world I would use them for. I think I'll get a few now. I am running out of room in my house for stuff though.... do you run into this problem??
