Playroom Part 2

Wall #2

Someone asked me where the toys were after reading the last post. What if I told you that I didn't believe in toys? Wouldn't that be sad? So, here they are. Actually now they are all over the floor but they stayed like this for a little while. And, at least everything pretty much has a place if and when it needs one.

That TV is hidden so nicely. We used the two red shelves that we had in the homeschool room at the old house. The armoire was a $75 purchase from a friend who was moving. At first, I wasn't sure I would like all these different colors and woods together but, I really like it.

Yes, there are toys in every one of those bins and baskets. Want to find out more about those metal bins?

Now, I need to finish the rest of the room so I can show you. What great motivation you are for me to get this done! Thanks! I bet you didn't even know you were motivating me, did you?

That room is sure starting to look very nice. Must be great for the boys to have a whole room to play in and for you to have a way of keeping all of the toys invading the rest of your house (or at least sort of). Greetings from a very wet Holland.

So glad we could be of help with the inspiration! You've inspired me so... I just bought metal buckets yesterday to start getting our playroom under control. Ugh.

Kat said...

It looks like a picture out of a Pottery Barn catalog. Have you always been this good at nesting?

Beth Cotell said...

I love the shelves and cabinet together! And you are right, it does look like one of those pricey units from Pottery Barn.

And those metal buckets could be emptied out and filled with ice and drinks at your next party! You've got to love dual functionality!

As always, thanks for the inspiration!

You have a beautiful home! That is the nicest playroom!! :)

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home! You motivate me to do some changes around here. What's the name of the red on your toy shelves?

Karrie said...

Love the cabinet sandwiched between the shelves!!! Way better than PB, their "rooms" are too matchy-matchy. Your previous post with the buckets inspired me a couple weeks back and I have been searching... and searching for painted shelves (or ones that I could paint myself). So far not much luck. I don't want to pay $400 for a bookcase. Where did you find these bookcases? Any suggestions? Maybe I should try Hob Lob?
Thanks for the inspiration! This is the perfect solution for all the power rangers and ninja turtles that are invading my house!

I love it! And I love those pillows on yesterday's post. Are they denim? It's all so cute.

Beautiful! Beautiful! Us motivating you is motivating me! It's a vicious circle of motivation. LOVE IT!

Ha! I hear you on the toys rarely staying in their places!!! The bain of my existence as a mom! But your storage solutions are so pretty. I just have plastic bins and garbage picked shelves (well not really from the garbage, but they were free). Beautiful playroom overall! Can't wait for the next installment!

Kristi said...

BTW what is in the frame with the circular opening? Looks like it is the original filler from when you buy them. LOL, I feel like I'm looking at an I Spy book!

I LOVE the play room! Red is one of my very favorite colors and I'm having fun adding it in with my son's (5 yrs old) tans and blues in his room. You've inspired me once again. But WAIT!!! I'm not done the kitchen yet!
Can't keep up!!! :-)

I would love to know the name of the paint color on the bookshelves! I love it!

The Nester said...

Inquiring minds want to know--I bought the bookshelves that color along with the red beds. They were $280 each but are HUGE and HEAVY and should last us a long time!

The line is discontinued and we got everything for 40% off.

They are almost a cranberry red.

LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! I also like the combo's of woods I think it looks great. I love the amoire and what a steal! I have a tv cabinet that we built and the door is a really old green screen door that used to be on my grandparents home when my dad was just a kid. Everyone tells me they like it. I hope they are not lying to me. :) It does need some black paint though.

I can't wait to see what else you have up your decorating sleeve.

Go Nester! (see we are cheering you on) Why because we all want to see more pictures of your house as it unpacks! I have moved more times than I would care to admit but I am 32 and it is in the mid 20's! I have learned over the years to one not be a pack rat and two set up house really quickly. Our last move last June will be our last, we all joke we are all going out feet first...we did major renovations this last year but I am still lacking the finishing touches...I have to get to work on it and you inspire me to do it! Anyways it is too hott here in the summer to do big projects that require too much sweat equity so it is time for me to start on getting it all together!
Thanks and
YeAh NeStEr (that was me doing the wave for you!)

I love it when toy storage is cute too. I have a lot of toys that I am weeding out of the house right now. I hope to figure out some good storage once and or all. Hah!

I love decor that is functional. We, as mothers, can have our beautiful homes with toys and kids and fingerprints! Hooray for lived-in homes! I like what you did!

Your tips are so real and helpful! I use galvanized bins too, at my job (I'm a teacher) and a few at home.
I like how you document everything w/ photos, too!

We are downsizing from 2800 to a two bedroom apartment while we look for a bit of land to build :) It will be interesting and exciting to let go of 'stuff' and live a more simpler life for awhile! We hope to stay under 1900 next time ;)

Oh, boy, my dh would be ecstatic if all our toys fit on two shelves and an armoire. I'm trying. Lol.

LOL, I know, if it weren't for my blog I wouldn't get half the stuff done that I do so quickly. It would dragggggg onnnn but thanks to blogging, I now can't procrastinate (gotta have SOMEthing to talk about).

HI Nester! Not sure if I've commented in a while, or for that matter, if I've EVER commented, but trust me, I read you DAILY (and LOVE your realness great ideas)!

By the way, can I come over to play in that adorable room?! I live in Charlotte, so we MUST live close,LOL?!

Ennywho...all THAT to ask a simple question: Have you ever spray painted a fabric lampshade before, and if so, did it survive the heat of the bulb? I have two pleated fabric shades that I'd love to paint red and was just curious if you'd ever mistreated lamp shades bafore...

Thanks so much for your daily inspirations!

Nester - I just found your blog and it is super cute! Way to go! I keep checking it to see if you have done anything else to your new house -- but then I thought -- Calm down! She just moved!! lol So I will practice patience. :) I am moving to NC on the first of July -so excited to nest up a new nest! I think I have done a "mistreatment" before, but I am not sure if it qualifies...it did involve some sewing...but the majority of sewing is not sewing - it's measuring, folding, ironing, pinning (repeat)....and I will be VERY happy to skip some of that!!
Thanks for the great blog!!

that's your playroom? I thought I was looking at a page from Pottery Barn Kids :)....

The mixed woods look FABULOUS!

But, come on, take a picture of the room trashed---you know you wanna! And it would still probably look amamzing!

Queenie, i've never spray painted shades before but now am dying to know if it would work. i can tell you that i once bought a red shade, brought it home, turned the lamp on and the shade looked pink with the light on. so, i guess it could be tricky.

do you have an old shade you could try it on first?

has anyone ever done this?

Nester- a friend told me about your blog about 2 weeks ago and I am totally obsessed with checking it out everyday!!!! You have inspired this not so crafty, not so thrifty mom, to "get her hands dirty", literally!!! I had my first experience with "MOD PODGE", should have posted pictures of my hands:) I have started 2 projects in the last 3 days and I am having soooo much fun with it.
