Wallpaper makes great wrapping paper.
Our local Habitat for Humanity ReStore sells rolls for about a dollar. The thick paper always looks nice and I like to use my hot glue gun instead of tape to seal it all up. What do you do with extra wall paper?
And PS, Monday was a huge success! Thank you all for joining in! I thought I got to everyone on Monday and then woke up Tuesday morning to 50 additional mistreaters! I'm still trying to visit everyone! I'm hoping to do a wrap up post showing some of my favorite photos from y'all. But, I'm not making any promises--school is about to start.

Love the wallpaper idea. Especially love the orange price stickers on them...cuz that means they were cheap!
Now I'm first AND second.
great idea!
i have old wallpaper sample books from my grandmother's shop. we use it to line the bottom of the bird cage. doesn't soak through as fast as newspaper. i'm sure that's not a good decorating tip though.
What a great idea!!!
Thanks so much for the Mr. Linky thing yesterday. I could NOT believe how many hits I got in one day. Let's just say it was the most EVER x 10. I can only imagine how many you must get a day.
Good luck with school & thanks again.
Congrats on the success of your party! I popped over and visited some and people are so talented!
I have not finished visiting all the links from yesterday either! I've done a few mistreatments myself but did not get around to posting them! As far as the wallpaper is concerned...I love to use it for wrapping paper, also to ship packages......much better and just as sturdy as the Brown Craft wrap......but the best yet is when I covered my UGLY laminate cabinets in the kitchen! (you can see the pictures on my blog from the July 28th post)
Pretty wallpaper for a dollar?! I'd buy all they have! I have used wallpaper to cover picture mats and they turn out cute. I want to use wallpaper to cover the backs of a 3 piece unit I have (holds the TV and has a bookshelf on either side), but I can't decide what pattern I want. There are so many gorgeous ones out there! I am still enjoying the mistreatment partay - I'm on #30. Thanks for hosting it!
I'm catching my second wind and getting ready to do my tour-o-mistreatments!
Wallpaper---who'd have known! I bet it's a lot better than the toilet paper thin dollar store wrapping paper that I usually end up getting ;)!
Yes- I love using wallpaper for gift wrap... I found the most beautiful pale yellow paper with a darker yellow script all over it - was gorgeous with a big fat sheer ribbon! We also use wallpaper to line shelves in my linen closet and sometimes in the pantry and kitchen... or even laundry room.
And, someone mentioned using it on the back of a bookshelf - like how you do the scrapbooking paper... forgot that we do that too! In fact, my daughgter has a bookcase that my dad made me when I was little... and it has the wallpaper that my mom put in it in the back of it... hmmm... time to update! lol
Now I'm feelin' so cool because I have wallpaper too that I don't plan on putting on walls. I bought it on clearance at Big Lots for $1.50 in several different patterns. I have lots of plans for what to do with it (cover picture mats, wrapping gifts, pretty up the back of a cabinet, and copy Joy's recent 5 minute project), but so far the only thing I've actually used it for is making cards. I figure pretty wallpaper is good for any of the fun stuff people use scrapbook paper for, and way cheaper.
I love your blog. You have a keen sense of design and a fabulous sense of humor! Thank you!!
I just saw on Etsy that someone used wallpaper to cover blank journals, trimmed with ribbon.
She used vintage floral wallpaper to cover blank composition books. Very pretty, nice gifts.Oh, I think her shop was called mollycottage.

I do nothing with old wallpaper because it is forbidden in my house - lol. I had to take down a wallpaper border once and I swore I'd save myself the heartache :-) Buttttttt, if I ever run across wallpaper that is cheap and divine, now I can buy it and know what to do with it!
Excellent idea for the wallpaper! You wonder why you don't think of these things before!!
I have never heard that...I will try it. I have a bunch of rolls from my old house! Thanks! There was a place I use to live by in Cleveland that sold waverly papers for 2.00 so I would buy without even knowing where it was going. So now I guess it's going on my gifts!

Great idea, I'm all about gift wrapping. The Party was so much fun, great to meet so many mistreaters! Now I've got to look at the 50 more!
Love you too!
Great idea. I will have to look for some on sale. I loved the mistreatment party. It was fun to look at what everyone has done.
Blessings,
Linda
I know what you mean about school starting. It started around here on Monday and I have not had time to get on here much at all. I wanted to do the mistreatment party but that was a dream. I hope to check them all out this weekend. Have a great day!!!
I have used wallpaper for frames and to cover old cork boards. One of my FAVORITE things to do is find frames at garage sales/ thrift stores that are unique and insert wallpaper or fabric. I also once covered the top of my end table in my bedroom with wallpaper and then put a clear coat of poxy over it. What cant you do with wallpaper??? LOL
My mom used leftover wallpaper to cover old books. I can remember reading many a book that matched the kithen or bathroom. I have used shelf paper to wrap presents. I like to purchase one of those huge rolls of butcher or craft paper (white or brown) and decorate the package once it is wrapped. I also like to use the 4 inch rolls of tulle as ribbon.
One of my girlfriends just bought a bunch of rolls of cream/green toile wallpaper on clearance. She lined the backs of her white kitchen cabinets with it. Some of her cabinets have glass doors and it looks fantastic!
I should go take some pictures. Hmmmmm...
What a great idea! I have to say, since I found your blog I have been very inspired.
ooo love wallpaper almost as much as I LOVE fabric. I too have used it a wrapping paper. and glued little pearls or jewels on it for added touch. Stay tuned b/c Im re-doing my laundry room and mistreating a window and table- cant wait to show you! :-) Im a mistreating woman on a mission (I have my 3rd child due in 2 weeks!!!!- so Im kinda Nesting (hee hee)
i love that idea! I use wallpaper to accent furniture...I have a post on my blog...www.thescreamingmeme.blogspot.com...on using wallpaper in the inset of a piece of furniture...and If it is textured you can paint it...I will be using my left overs for wrapping...Thanks...I wasn't able to join the party because...well...i'm slow in the computer train...Im in the back ...asleep like in 7th grade...Some things never change...i will try to learn the linking thing so that I don't miss out on all the fun...I loved seeing all the mistreatments...i think that they were great...Love,meme
I have used wallpaper sample books to make cards and bookmarks. I had one sample book that was grass cloth wallpapers, and it added great texture to my cards.
Great Idea! I will have to keep my eye out for some cheap, fun paper:)
This is a wonderful idea! I will sometimes use old wallpaper as draw liners.
Monday was so much fun. thank you for throwing such a great party!!!
Have a beautiful day,
Krista
YEAH!! i've been using wallpaper as wrapping paper for years! it looks so original and i usually get so many comments on it! great post!!
THose wallpaper rolls are gorgeous...great idea!!

Now why didn't I think of that? And you use a glue gun! Clever, very clever.
Great idea! I'll just have to find some wallpaper that's cheap enough!
When I was in high school, my mom and I wallpapered my bedroom. She took the extra and lined the drawings in a dresser. We moved a long time ago but I still have the dresser and everytime I open a drawer and see the wallpaper, it brings back a lot of memories.
We always used it to line dresser drawers and closet shelves. You know how sometimes you throw up some shelves using old plywood laying around, and they might be rough and snag your things... wallpaper is so nice and thick and pretty that it works great as a shelf liner and as a drawer liner -- much better than flimsy tissue paper in drawers. I've also used it as a book-sleeve on some of our favorite and well-loved childrens books, to keep them a little nicer for a little longer. I've also used it to cover shoe boxes or other things that I use for storage, but want to look nicer and last longer.
I use it in my kitchen - to line the shelves. A little double sided tape on the bottom and it sticks great! As a bonus, it rinses off nicely too!
Shelf paper for the kitchen cabinets. I like the giftwrap idea.
I want some!I want some!! Isn't red a yummy color?!

oh man - and I just donated some brand spankin' new Waverly wallpaper to Goodwill and I am not buying it back. It only took me 8, YES, 8 years to get rid of it because I kept thinking I would use it...it was beautiful.
Sigh about school starting...it's so hard. I am easing back into it...slowly.:)
good idea!! I will try that. I just did a post re your wallpaper post.
Hi Nestie. I mean, Nester. Just popped in with a happy hello to you.
Love the wallpaper for wrapping idea.
xo & blessings,
melissa
I wrapped my ugly refrigerator and love it!
I don't think I've ever had wallpaper in any of my houses. And I've never even bought any. Man, I'm missing out.
I've seen leftover wallpaper used as giftwrap, framed as art, used as a book cover or for decoupage/paper crafting. I love to get wallpaper books to use with my scrapbooking students!
GREAT IDEA!!! I AM SO USING IT!
Thanks for all of your wonderful ideas.....oh yeah...by the way I am addicted to making ragamuffins..when I do I say I made it but give you the credit for the inspiration!!!!

These are some sweet ideas for wallpaper~I will keep my eyes open for it now. Thanks again for a great party on Mon and Tues~holy mistreatments, Batman! It was great.
What an awesome idea--how the heck do you think of these things--all the time? I bet everyone who gets a present from you feels so special.
Love that idea! Jen R
I found some cute leopard wall paper & used my hot glue gun to cover a lamp shade or two! I love wallpaper as wrapping paper! I've also thought about backing some bookshelves with it!
p.s. we started school a couple of weeks ago...email me & I'll send you an invite...if ya want?
Growing up, our school books were required to be covered to protect them from marks and dings. Some used the school logo covers from the bookstore, some used paper grocery bags (do they even make paper bags any more?) but I always went on a little shopping trip with my Daddy before the start of school. To "the de-pot" (Home Depot) to pick out a roll of fun wall paper. It is soooo strong and often would last the entire year- in and out of lockers and bags!
It also makes a good table cloth/covering/runner if you are trying to stick to a theme. Or want a cute table for a messy kid party.
And I line all of my dresser drawers with it.
Geez- I never realized how much I like wallpaper considering I don't actually like it up on my walls!!
I use old wallpaper to line cabinets and drawers as well as cover photo boxes. I loveeeeeee the second wallpaper you have here. Wish I could purchase some! Enjoyed this post!
Hmmm. . . I'll have to be on the lookout for some wallpaper.
Wallpaper makes the best kitchen and bath room cabinet and drawer liner ever! It's so sturdy and last forever. I also line my dresser drawers as well.
thanks for the wallpaper idea, luv it. I always use brown postal paper because it is CHEAP, STRONG, and you can put a cute bow around it and it looks fabulous. I get compliments all the time. Thanks for your blog, I am a peeker!
