Don't want to make holes in your mantel for your garland?
Lysa emailed me yesterday all excited about the cure for hole-ly mantels. She found this new thing-a-majig called the Garland Grabber. It holds your garland on the mantel, fences, banister, granite {in case you want to garland up your kitchen}. This thing is gonna put nails out of business. Yes, I am so upset that I didn't think of it first. And no, it's not a 7 year old kid who stands at the mantel all season and holds up the garland. This is a no holes way to hang your garland.
They do only hold 5 pounds each so I would probably have to use 2 or 3 on each side of my mantle but OH MY GOODNESS! Not only that but, Lysa is giving some away on her blog, love her, so fly on over there and sign up to win.

Daggummit! Right after I have been putting holes in mine left and right to hold my garland! I'll have to remember that for next year. I have been tweaking my garland. Goodness, I hope I'm not getting carried away and putting to much junk in there. It's so easy and fun, I am looking at everything and wondering how I can incorporate it into my garland. My whole mantle is liable to come crashing down... Anyhoo, I'll def. be ready to participate in your garland party!

I think it's a great idea. I checked online at QVC and they sell a mantle/bannister combo. It got mixed reviews. I wonder if it would fit my bannister...

So what's wrong with having kids hold it up all season long...and holes? You said they were fine...hee hee. Leave it to Lysa to find something wonderful for us all (but still, love the kid idea...perseverance is such a wonderful virtue). Are you going to let all your readers know about next Sunday? What a cool product!!! I have a question....We have 5 stockings that usually hang from our mantel...can you do a garland and also hang stockings??? If not, what should I do with the stockings??

Too bad I didn't hear about these garland things last week. Could have saved my banister some scars. Oh well.
Maybe you already know about these, but I use Command 3M hooks to hang up my lights, garland etc. They come in many different sizes to hold just about everything. I love them. They leave no holes, marks, sticky stuff after taking them down. I leave my ones on my bay window up year round. They are clear so they don't show when I don't have anything hanging there. Just some FYI. I love all your great ideas.

My garland is waaay too heavy for a one of those plasticy hooks but, for those of you who are anti-hole--with lightweight garland this is a great solution!
No one will ever notice a few little holes! I will always be preaching that and for the banister, I just wrap my garland over top of the rail and thread it through and it stays without any help from nails or anything!

Great little invention, but I think mine would shatter under the weight. I am definately a nails and zipties lady!! - - Maybe even a little duct tape if needed! Just finished my garland last night and I am so happy with it! If you are renter, you really should ask your landlord for permission to add nail holes to wood. The landlord is the owner of the property so it's his decision if nails are okay, right?

You inspired me to jazz up my garland. I hit the backyard and gathered some goodies to bulk up my garland. I don't swag my garland because I'm afraid of setting the house on fire.
Please note that I get a lot of grief from the men in my life about the window on the mantle. My boys think I'm slightly crazy for dragging home the window from the flea market!
I use clear command adhesive clips to hang the stockings. My husband would make me sleep outside if I put a nail in our mantle :)
