Bird Watching

The Scooper at A La Mode really did some decorating damage mistreating her windows.

Are your cabinets starting to look old or outdated? Jennifer at The Magic Brush shows us how she can transform dated cabs to something fab! But warning--she's a professional!

Need to cover an ottoman? Sarah at Blue Castle gets creative. And look how darling this room is!

Thanks to each of you who left a comment and emailed me yesterday. I could not believe your response! Gosh y'all are geniuses! I'm thinking I'll just print out what you said and read it. That should go over well, no?

Hi Nester,

Thanks for the great links here. I'm going to rush off and see what I can learn about how to do that cabinet finishing work...looks cool!

I don't think you'll have any problems at all coming up with a great example of oratory genius at Blissdom, because you'll be speaking about something you're passionate about. Easy, right?

I had my first request for real life help over at RemodelingGuy...cool, huh?

Best to you...

So, being the thrifty trash raider that I am... I just heisted (I KNOW I didn't spell that right.. no shame) me a weathered round table on the side of the road. The center pedestal splits to add a leaf (no leaf, not even a table top on this lady) and the leg is a show stopper. I've squirelled (okay, blogger hates that word too.. it's all underlined in red... like I don't know how to spell squirrelled.. squireled... whatever.) away the pedestal and am waiting to add it to my kitchen upgrade! Thanks for the link to a pro.. I'm off to study.

Thanks for the idea, I'm always looking for more!! I like to have "real" ideas to work on, so that I can ignore the dorky ones my husband comes up with!

So fun, I love re-dos! That's why I love moving so much... everytime we have to move, it gives me another chance to start over in a new home and tackle new challenges. Sometimes its a new home, sometimes a really old one with lots of little quirks - - that's what we just came from and it was my favorite! You can check out my before and after picts here if you are interested http://charishumin.blogspot.com/2008/11/im-waaaayy-behind.html Bu the way, I think you are going to be a fabulous speaker just keep it real and from your heart, just like your blog!!!

Hello Nester,

Love your blog. Found it through The Lettered Cottage. I love to get decorating ideas from others and to see how other people decorate their homes. What an awesome opportunity to get low cost ideas from others.

Can I just ask, how many blogs do you read? When you bird watch you always hilight new sights and I am always in awe and wonder where you find them all?

The Nester said...

Emily, not my sister one, I'm gonna take that as a compliment. I'll tell you a secret, most of the birds I feature I connected with via email or twitter. I am sad to say that I don't read near as many blogs as I would like to!

Thanks for asking and I LOVE finding new blogs--hint hint!

There are so many talented peeps out there!

Nester,

I can't believe it. I'm just a simple little bird that you've now watched not once, but twice.

I got so much traffic on my blog yesterday, I had to hire a little bloggy policeman just to make sure things didn't get too crazy.

I feel like I should pay you. In chocolate or coffee of course...since I am broke. (Hence the $20 mistreatments you show-cased.)

And I am so sad I won't see you or Emily at Blissdom. I so want to go. Alas, I have a nursing baby (who is 14 months and really doesn't need to nurse anymore.) And I have no money.

I hope it goes great. Please blog all about it. But please don't make it sound too fun because then I will be filled with covetousness and mean thoughts. Especially if June is also there.

You'll be great.

The paint color on the wall in the first picture (The scooper at a la mode) is beautiful! Do you know the brand/color used. It's just perfect!
