Your new nest looks like it's absolutely beautiful. Are the living room walls pink - or is that just the lighting? Glad to see you finally got your fancy schmany, high falutin', rich people thing-a-ma-jigger in the door of your fridge! And it's stainless steel, too! Oooh la la!

Deidra said...

Looking good! I'm so glad to see that white dresser. It makes feel right at home.

Jaelou said...

Haha, wish my rental house (and last one too) looked like this! Mine was built 71 years ago which I love, but I also have to deal with no air conditioning (in Greensboro, NC), mysterious windows that are duct taped shut, and a room with a slanted floor. Yay?

Catherine said...

Wow, your house makes me wish I was renting!! :) Can't wait to see how you put it all together.

Kathi said...

Hey, you got the fridge with the icemakerinthedoor thingy! Good for you!!

Hey girl! Praying for your family as you settle in. Your boys are very blessed to have a momma who homeschools them and children are so resilient. I used to want to move SO badly when I was a kid, my parents have lived in the same house since 1976! I've moved six times since I graduated high school and hope to move a few more times.

Do you think after you get all unpacked and settled in you could do a post on moving house? I am such an unorganized person and my husband hates moving because of it. We still haven't unpacked from our last move 5 years ago...which I totally know I don't even need that stuff but I would still like to be way more organized when moving the next time.

I can't believe you're living room is all settled in already!

How can your living room look better in one day than most people's in forever. Sheesh....of course, we love you anyhow. :)

Jennifer said...

Yay! It has an icemaker! :) The new place looks like a lovely nest. Can't wait to see it with all of your touches in place :)

Katie said...

Looks like you have another beautiful space ready to go with all your great ideas! I can't wait to see what it's all gonna look like!

I'm awfully glad you got a fridge with an ice-dispenser! I've been terribly worried about that. I just don't want to think about you wasting time filling ice trays and what not when you could be concocting some new decorating trend for us all.

Have fun unpacking! I would totally help you if I lived closeby.

Beth said...

Wow, your rental is a LOT nicer than ours! Thanks for taking time to show us some pics.

Looks great! Have fun putting it together. We know you're taking lots of pictures to share the process with us. :-) Your house looks like a good one!

Stephanie said...

Love your new nest! They don't build new houses like that here in northern California. They're all ugly stuccoed Mediterraneans.

Love the nestrized blue armoire too!

Diana@DevineDesigns said...

Looks like you are having sooooo much fun! Settling in takes time and so does making a house a home.

One design tip to pass along for you (and all your peeps out there): the "power of position" is key to pulling a room together and, believe it or not, a room will "tell" you how to position furniture. I say to my clients we've got to be "room whisperers". ;o)

So, a kind of "rule" (if you will) to maximize the power of placement is to "honor the angle". When you have a room with a pre-existing angle, like you do with the fireplace wall, the room is "whispering" for a partner and we should see a reflection in the room of the angled wall. Typically it should be the largest piece of furniture, followed by an area rug (if using one) and a coffee table.

As you start to settle in and find homes for everything and then start "tweaking" see if reflecting the angled wall with the position of the sofa etc. will bring harmony to the room. You may need to get creative, but see how it works.

It's a beautiful home and I can't wait to see how you settle in and put your own design finger print on it!

Oh, your new nest is so beautiful! Fancy ice water fridge thingy even! :) You're really making it a home quickly...I think when I move it'll look like pic #2 for quite a while! ha!! Love the wood floors, and the new kitchen....wow! Take your time getting settled, we'll all still be here when you get back :)! Have fun nesting!!!

Tami said...

It is so good to see someone that moves alot and still has lots of "stuff"! Stuff that is worth moving, right?

Kat said...

I can't believe that's a rental house? I don't think rental houses in my neck of the woods look that good? Or maybe, I've just never looked?

Cheri said...

So glad you're movin' in! Looks great already! Go see my sis up the street. I'm coming down in August!

Oh I am so excited to see this house evolve into your home, I can hardly wait!!

your tv cabinet in your living room is a great color. Mine is a sage green and I have been wanting to paint it black, with a blue over it and rough it up a little so the black shows through. did you paint yours or was it already that color?

Now you are part of the rich crowd with that ice thingy! HA!

Aubrey said...

I sure like that big, airy, and bright family room. I'm with Bedlam Jennifer--you're too fast. I guess you're like a professional mover by now, so no wonder.

Woo-hoo on the ice dispenser. I just KNOW that behind that door, the shelves are packed with Toaster Strudels.

Can't wait to see the rest of the house. Especially the bathrooms and closets and every little nook and cranny. You know celelbrities have no privacy. ;)

I'm loving this post... thanks for the sneek peaks. You've always had a way of making rooms look lovely even when they're not "done".
You've got the rich people ice in the door dohickey! woo hoo.....
I'm also seeing the versatility of a sectional... hhmmm.
love ya!

It looks like you have lots of unpacking to do. I think this will be in my future shortly if we can sell our home. I don't look forward to it though. I love how you can transform an empty room and create your own special nest. I'm sure the finished product will be lovely.

Looks like your new house has some great spaces! Hope you are getting settled in your new home and the move hasn't been too stressful! I have a sneaking suspicion that you are looking forward to getting all the major things put away and in order so you can get to the fun nesting & decorating part!

Good luck with your move!

I was in the dentist's office the other day reading a copy of "Traditional Home." There was a story about combining RED and Robin's Egg Blue! Apparently, it goes WAAAAY back to the olden days in France! I remembered you talking about how someone told you that it's against the rules to combine the two -- thought you might want to know. :)
