That looks like so much fun! I saw a bunch of stuff I'd want...namely that floweredy dress on the girl in the kitchen area and big slice of that bundt cake, and a whole slew of girlfriends that I could have swap meets with like this! Haha! ;o)

I don't know what a Swap Meet is but it sure looks like fun. Did Martha stop by with the food? And why is it SO MUCH FUN to look at other people's stuff on a blog?

What FUN it was!!! I was so blessed to be there! And the banana pudding was to die for... I would love the recipe! All the food was abundant and great... and the fellowship even more. Thank you soooooooo much for opening your home to us. Ladies, the Nester is even sweeter and more adorable in person!!! (And all the other women I met were wonderful too.) Blessings!

Gosh...I miss living in the deep South. Pound cakes make it to every event. Not so elsewhere my friends...not so.

My eyes have turned green with envy over here! ;) I've been thinking about offering to host a swap with my MOPS group, so I am anxious to hear how you organized this without ladies tearing through the place like a tornado...it doesn't look like anyone was injured. ;)

Would you look at that FOOD?!? That's all I saw. Sorry. I'm not a cook but when I see ready made food, I slur my words and lose my mind.

Okay, so I've never heard of a swap meet...have I been under a rock? How exactly does it work? I was just thinking this morning how I have a pile of things I need to part with...this could be the answer. Thanks for sharing! Janell

I KNOW! I read about it on Jen's blog and I have been waiting (impatiently) for you to post more. I positively drooled over the photo of all the stuff piled on the table. The basket of eggs made me squeal (internally). So much fun! I can't wait to see more.

Oh, how I would have loved to come but we had plans to go to TN. Little did I know that God had other plans & I was attending the funeral of my step-father instead.

So glad y'all had a good time.

JEALOUS!! I wish I lived near you, although I doubt I have anything you'd want to swap with me.

Julianna Farmer said...

I love that, but how does a swap meet work!? I've never been to one. Could you do a future post on how-to hold a swap meet?
Thanks!

Dang...why don't I live in your neighborhood? Looks like a lot of fun!

Pretty Organizer said...

Girl,
When you emailed me and told me you were going to do this I knew the day of the post would be hard... not just because of the "stuff" I was missing out on because I live on the other side of the US- but look at them southern tasty treats in your kitchen! I'd have gone just for the name tag and a plate of goodies and a chance to stand next to your horizontal door. Fun times. Next time we'll have it at my place:)

decorating diva {aka deanna} said...

hi nester, that looks like so much fun! are you gonna post the rules and such for this kinda swap? that would be fantabulous! keep up the great bloggin'!

From the Old InkWell said...

Swap meet sounds interesting. Wish you would tell us more about it - how it works, etc.

Woman Interrupted said...

Please tell more!

How did you word the invitation? How many people to do you recommend for this kind of thing?

And finally, did you make all that food or was this a potluck too?

Sandy Knutson-Grebner said...

I too have done this, and it's a lot of fun. My next event is August 27th at a garden center that invited me after hearing of the first event I did at a local decorating shop. Showing new ways to decorate with others discards brings lots of conversation among the guests.
Thanks for sharing your post.

The Nester said...

People, see those words at the bottom of the last photo that says "more to come"?

That means I'll be writing more about the swap very soon. So put down your high heel shoes that you are holding along with your hot glue guns held like real guns at the ready to riot me for not telling you all the details.

Details to come. More details than you want.

Sarah said...

How awesome!!! Looks like a fabulous time!!!

Kristen said...

Oh my! It looks like you had so much fun. I'm sad that I had to miss it. Can't wait to read all the details to come. :)

I'm dying to do one of these but I don't know how to run it. Would you please tell us how you ran the process of picking? What were the requirements to participate? All that kind of stuff. I am so ready to host one of these.

I can't wait to hear about this! I totally want to host a swap meet now. Especially with money being tight for so many people I know, myself included, this is a great way to get to "go shopping".

Biteofpunkinpie said...

I want to know how you kept everyone in the know about what was up for swapping and what was YOURS... it looks like things were spread all over your house!

How fun!

~Stephanie~ said...

OMG... that looks like fun! I wish I could have come. I would love to have one someday... I really don't think I know enough people to do one now.

Your swap looks like so much fun! I have seen some pictures of it on other blogs. I would have trouble picking my 'swap' with all those pretty things!!

Kelly said...

We've done that before, too! We include regretable cosmetic purchases, clothes, and accessories, and just basically trade over wine. It's free, fun, and also very social.

Anonymous said...

Well that looks like fun! You will have to fill us in SOON on this because me and several of my friends are wanting to do a swap meet, too! I've never even been a part of one, though, and would like to make it as fun as possible! So tell us some of your favs from that day!

WhimsicalXpressions said...

That is such a great idea, fun...food...and "shopping"

Alicia said...

LOVE it! I e-mailed everyone in my area in my address book, and I've gotten a positive response from every single one. Can't wait to host this party!

I was looking around online and found a great swap meet resource - an article in Real Simple. Here's the link:
http://www.realsimple.com/holidays-entertaining/entertaining/everyday-celebrations/host-swap-party-00000000013711/index.html

Can't wait to hear more about this as I plan my party.
