Attention Locals :: Yard Sale

UPDATE: The sale will start at 8 AM not 7
We are having a yard sale on Saturday--weather permitting. I've got tons of wreath making materials, fabric pieces for $1 each, housewares, housewares, housewares, a bed, a piano?, boys clothes...dear God, please let it be sunny.

If you are a local {Charlotte, NC area} and can prove to me that you are not a killer {facebook/blog friend me and send me a message}--like for real I'm not giving my address out to just anyone, email me {nestergirl@gmail{dot}com} for more info, if you left your email in the comments I can't respond you need to email me!!. My husband is very strict, killers are not allowed. If you are killer, you probably have bad taste and wouldn't like anything I have anyway.

So, you can't leave your car outside in your neighborhood if it has writing on it...but you can have a huge sign! That's funny! I sure wish I lived in the Charlotte area! Good luck!

Mom in High Heels said...

Hmmm, how much would a flight to NC cost, do you think? I'm sure it would totally be worth it. And just so you know, I'm not a killer. Dh might say I'm slightly unstable, but definitely not a killer.

You are so funny! Wish I was closer...

Lindsay @ Not2Us said...

Good luck with your yardsale! We had a killer sale at the beginning of the summer. (I literally emptied our house and sold everything but our beds, our computers, and my Kitchenaid Professional Stand mixer. Then, I bought all new stuff. It was blast! :)

Oh Nester!! I could wish I were closer!! I'd LOVE to visit your garage sale. But alas. . . Hope it all goes well!! And your weather is gorgeous! blessings! c.

Good Luck!! I love a good yard sale...reminds me of my Dad. While driving with his family, if he saw a 'Yard Sale' sign he would always turn to my Mom and say.."hey Maddy, do we need a new yard, cuz those people are selling theirs "...cracked me up everytime ;-) Thanks for bringing back a good memory .

Poppy Cottage said...

Oh I can't stop giggling! I am so glad you cleared that up (heehee)

I'm in NC but not the Charlotte area. I wish! Best of luck and I'm so glad your husband is strict like that.

Katie said...

Oh, please take some pictures so I can rummage in my mind....since I can't come. :o(

Not because I'm a killer.

Just because I live in Atlanta.

Me Too said...

So my 'rents live in Cherryville, NC and I know my Mom would LURVE your garage sale. . .do you live near Cherryville? Check out my blog - email me at buninthetoaster@gmail.com. I'm not a killer. Although I do have a pair of killer heels. Seriously, they rock. :)

Leigh of Tales from Bloggeritaville said...

Shucks! I would LOVE to see what you got to sell. Good idea to be up front with the killers. I dont blame you, I wouldnt want em lurking round my house either. Good Luck, hope you have good weather and success.

Colleen P. said...

LOL-Lindsay, I can so totally relate! They're gonna have to bury me with my Kitchenaid stand mixer!

Nester, alas, I am not even remotely close to NC, so I cannot come to your yard sale. I'll see what I can do to make sure it rains here instead of there, though, OK? LOL! Best of luck and may you sell loads of stuff!

Terri said...

I am so sad I can't come! I would so be there, but I have people coming to my house to scrapbook all day! I think they would notice if I snuck out... I am sure I would love your creative castoffs. I still need to have a yard sale this fall, too. My parents arrive in one week and that may be our project... unpacking and cleaning out the garage. I have stuff I haven't seen in 4 years... I will pray yours is a great success!! And no rain. Blessings!

Colleen P. said...

PS-killers are repelled by the magical power of tassels, so let this serve as a warning to all the killers planning to come to Nesters yard sale! There will be muffins AND tassels! You don't stand a chance! Beware!

You keeel me. LOL

Sorry, Roanoke is a teeny bit too far away or I would be there haggling for certain!

Too bad we're going to be out of town this weekend! We love yard sales and we're not killers. Stalkers, maybe...:-)

On the other hand, we had a huge sale a few weeks ago and got rid of lots of interesting items. And by the way I was whining this morning about all the crap we still have around here, I probably shouldn't be going to any yard sales any time soon.

Becky Darlington said...

I live in the Charlotte area and I'm so coming to your yard sale if you give me your address! I just sent you an email. :)

Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality said...

Ha-ha on the killers! And I'm having a yardsale on Sat. too. Wishing us both good weather.

Jessica @ This Blessed Life said...

Never wanted to move to North Carolina before this very moment!

Great minds think alike! Hee! Hee! I just told my husband today that I wanted to have a yard sale this weekend. Like that other woman said she did at the beginning of summer- clean out the house. :D Too bad I don't live anywhere near NC, or I might have had to break away from my sale to go to yours. Hope it stay sunny for you!!

OHHH...If I lived closer I would be all over your yard sale! Good luck with the weather!

I wish I could come, but I live in Illinois.

My husband also has a strict no killers policy. Guys can be so weird...

Tracey said...

I am whining and complaining that I can't make it down to your yard sale. We are driving home from Florida on Friday and I don't think I will be ready to hop back in the car and drive 6 hours back to your yard sale. Praying for a sunny day and lots of buyers! God Bless Nester!

LEFThompson said...

Girl! YOU plus YARD SALE plus MUFFINS = one happy me! I *sort of* remember how to get to your house but if you'll shoot me the address then I definitely won't get lost! Oh and the start time of course so I can beat out all the other shoppers! ;-)

I'm in Florida but will be coming about a hour south of where you are for a wedding for the weekend. Think they'd miss me if I skip the wedding for a yardsale? Goodluck and hope you have good weather.

Jenna said...

I wish I lived closer! I'm sure you are selling some great things! Good luck with the weather, I hope you have a wonderful weekend for it! I love your blog and read it daily, numerous times! You have great taste!! Love that your husband doesn't allow killers, haha!

Anonymous said...

Hahahahaha. Suppose someone has "killer" taste. Will that person be allowed? I'd love fabric pieces for $1. Doubt if the plane ticket would make it worth the deal. If only you were closer...

Cristie Campbell said...

um...what i'd do to live in NC on any given day...but in particular this weekend! Blessings to you this weekend!

Tammy said...

Don't worry about the killers they are all up here in the Raleigh-Durham triangle area :)
Wish we could make it down to Charlotte- the nester and IKEA could there be a better city?
We have soccer but I agree with the other poster - put pictures of it up so we can sort of vicariously attend.

Hmmmm...how can I convince my husband that 3 hours is not too far to drive for a yard sale?!?

Bonita said...

Noooooooooo! You can't do this to me! I'm going to be out of town until Saturday afternoon!

Can I have a preview sale like tomorrow or something?

Kimberly said...

Killers have notoriously bad taste, so I think you might be safe. You're stuff is entirely too pretty.

Melanie said...

Oh I wish I lived near you. I would get up early and be there with bells on:)

Hahahaha...your post is hilarious. I think you are right. Killers have terrible taste. That's why they are so angry all the time! They can't get the right shade of paint or fabric, ever!

JustMeCopper said...

You are hysterical. I love you sense of humor.

The last time I had a yard sale, a lady in the neighbornood took in counterfit money from a group fo three people that each gave her a twenty for something that cost a quarter or so. She lost $60. Get youself one of those pens (I hear they make them?). Counterfitters, killers .. whatever.

Red Lipstick said...

Oh I wish I lived locally! I'm glad about the no killer rule. They can be swiftly dealt with, by your husband, no doubt ;-)

BEST wishes for a great sale and NO RAIN !

Denise said...

oooh I wish I lived near by :) Hoping the sun shines for you.

Y'ALL:

If you want to come you have to email me! nestergirl@gmail.com--and my husband is requiring proof that you are not a 89 year old bald man from Canada. Anyone can say they live off exit 68. Even though I know you are all telling the truth.

Proof: a blog, facebook friend me {nester smith} and then message me, or know someone I know IRL.

Remodeling Guy said...

You crack me up! If he let me in the house, he can't be that strict!

Lindsay said...

So wish I was closer! And I'mnot a killer either :)

Hmmm, the Nester's garage sale...
that's almost worse the price of a plane ticket to NC! So sorry I'll miss it.

sad day, i live in texas! BUT i will be traveling to SC next week. not quite on time for your yard sale, but closer to you nonetheless. --even though i don't really know you. is that creepy? :)

Chris said...

Be careful. You don't want to anger the killer by telling him/her they have bad taste. No one likes an angry killer. (As opposed to the non-angry type.) :)

Lisa said...

I wish I lived in your town! I bet you have great sales!!
Also and this is a plus...I am not a killer! YAY!!

Jen@Balancing Beauty and Bedlam said...

Ok, I just had to read the comments because I know I would laugh out loud. And you know that I am dying that I can't come but I have your $0.25 blue tray in the middle of my kitchen table and you really shouldn't have given it away at the swap. :)

LukesLove said...

I live an hour north of Charlotte... I'd love to come (and meet you too, since I enjoy your blog so much!) but I probably can't get out of bed soon enough to get there (I'm lazy on Saturday!!) - AND my hubby would so roll his eyes if I went an hour away just for a yard sale! =)

I had a really long dream last night about coming to your yard sale. I brought my whole family and I bought $99 worth of junk and we had a blast! Your husband was looking really mean...probably to keep the killers away.

Cresta said...

Hmmmm I'm only a 5 hour drive. A Nester yard sale might be worth 5 hours in the car!

Melissa said...

Okay, this made me laugh so hard. It's kind of like when you said that if people look close at your window treatments they're perverts. (you did say this, right??) But this is the exciting news~I'm moving kind of close to you (I think) I'll email you in case killers are reading and tell you where...

Leslie said...

wish I was local- that's gotta be one great yard sale! :)

Just a hint, but adding the monthly summary widget and some tagsto the posts would make your blog alot easier to read.

Haha, I love the last sentence. Anyway, the poster(if it's yours) is great - it's a fabulous way to get people to come. Actually, I have recently written an article about executing a successful garage sales and advertisement is one of the most important points.
