I've been promising this for awhile and now, it's finally time...let's all meet back here Monday and link up using that weird guy Mr. Linky and share our window mistreatment adventures! Are you new here and wondering what this atrocity could possibly be that I am referring to?
This post tells my philosophy of mistreating windows. You know how designers throw around the term window treatment? Love it, but what I do to windows really doesn't qualify as a treatment. Hence, the mistreating.
Here are my definition of terms taken from this post:
Mistreatment: (n). covering for a window that is quick, cheap and pretty. may or may not need hardware does not require sewing. a real designer's worst nightmare.
Mistreating: (v). the act of treating a window with dignity and respect without use of the following: hundreds of dollars, sewing, time, crying, divorce, child neglect...
It's been so fun to share these mistreatments with you and the response has been so great that it's time we show each other what we've been up to.
Have you mistreated something? Maybe it was a doorway or under your sink or a bed--it doesn't have to be a window.
Maybe you've got your fabric and your glue gun and your stuff is just sitting around waiting for you to take action.
You've got plenty of time to get it put together and do a quick post. We all want to see what you've been up to and we could all use some inspiration and encouragement! Remember, when you are linking up to link directly to the actual post with the mistreatment, not just your blog. And even if you did your mistreatment months ago--that's fine--link to that one!
As and added bonus you get a wonderfully highly sought after expensive free gift from moi. You get to join our club and proudly display this wild, blinking button on your blog!

I'll have the post up at 12:01 am on Monday morning for you early birds/night owls.

This sounds wonderful! I love all the mistreatments you show and talk about. I accidentally tried to put on a closet mistreatment on in the dark Sunday morn for church, thinking it was a skirt. My daughter asked why I was trying to put a curtain on!That curtain rod was mistaken for a hanger Woops-

Putting up mistreatments shouldn't cause child neglect? Well crap, I'm mistreating the mistreating. I think it's because I move so. slow. ...and they get hungry.
Hey Nester-girl:
Try this size button for your sidebars:
<center><a href="http://www.graphicallydesigning.com"><img src="http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff293/my3boybarians/GD/GDbutton175.png"></a></center>
It's the code for the narrower version. And in case Blogger comments don't speak this kind of code - email me and I'll hook a girl up.

I am so confusing. hate me.
I have talked about how to dress your windows with mistreatments and shared how I make them.
Lots of other people have made them and emailed me the photos or blogged about the results.
It would be fun to see all the the different mistreatment ideas that people have so I will have a post on monday where everyone can add a link to their post about their mistreatment.
We can click on the link and rejoice with everyone about their beautiful window mistreatments.

I have been wanting to try a mistreatment, maybe I can find some time to get to a store. Can you believe that it's 45 minutes to the nearest fabric store?
How can I put that flashy button on my blog post? Do I need to get the code from you? I am planning on joining you!
Hello! I would love to join you for the "Window Mistreatment Partay"! I've been visiting your blog in a while and I admire all the pretty things you have done in your home. Thanks! Vanessa

Is it sad that I am absolutely giddy about this 'mistreatment party' I actually squealed and clapped my hands! (I know, I need a life!) I have been waiting for you to post the info.
There is nothing like a deadline for me to get stuff done. I will be mistreating all weekend! Can't wait to see all the wonderful ideas!!
Thanks Nester....You're like a 'Den Momma' to all us mistreaters!
Count me in. I can't wait to see everyone's mistreatments and perhaps I will be done with my monstrous living room window by Monday. I can't sem to figure out a topper. I may do a faux Roman shade. I don't know . . .

OOPS! I meant to type: "I can't SEEM . . . " not sem. Sorry.
Oh, and I'm just a window abuser! I'm too embarrassed to even show my windows. Lol. I'll just peek this time.
Oh boy! I've been planning my very first mistreatment in my head for a few weeks now. I guess I better get it out of my head and on the wall so that I can play along!
Sounds really fun! I will try to come up with something!
Jody
Oooh oooh, I have something! I was also hoping to mistreat my bedroom window with a beautiful black and cream toile this weekend. With a newborn, I'm not sure if I can be that adventurous, but we'll see!
Hi Nester...
This is my 1st visit to your blog. I've come over from Nancy, the Southern Lady's blog.
I love what I see here!! I'm adding you to my FAVORITES!!! I'll be back!
~Blessings,
Jan
Sounds like fun! Wish I could think of something to show. Hmmm... -Julia
I can't wait for ideas! I just did some cornices this weekend and have one window left that has me stumped. I'll post about my project and get ideas for the leftover window...perfect timing!
if you want the blinking button just scroll down on the right sidebar where it says "want this blinkie" even though that's not the right blinkie it will take you to all of them so you can pick which one you want!
This is perfect timing for me! I'm moving into a new house in about a month and have been stressing about window treatments already! I can't wait to see everyone's ideas. Thanks for hosting this party. :)
I don't even have to invent a project for this one, I've got LOTS of mistreatments. LOL!
I've mistreated a shower curtain, would that count? I love your motto, "It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful". I want to stitch it on a sampler or something...
ok..I made 2 more ragamuffin garlands.....you got me addicted!:) I just posted some pics of one! :) HOPe I made you proud! HAHA
Oh, how I would love to play! But I don't have any mistreatments yet!
I do, however, have a window that needs a mistreatment -- I just don't know what to do with it!
I'd be glad to offer it up for the cause. Just say the word. :-)
I'm so looking forward to this! I'd planned to mistreat my kitchen windows, and because of this party- I had to haul my tired bum to the store with my toddler and newborn to get a few of the items I needed and didn't have on hand- and guess what? I finished in a day! I feel like superwoman! :P
Nester,
You have got to get a copy of Country Home September 2008. It has a pages with a .....mistreatment.
Oh yes, it does. The curtain rings are hanging on individual black nails. You will love it......
Tasha
I love your blog. I happen to own a custom window treatment business that is home based. I design window treatments and also make them. Eventhough I make custom treatments I really enjoy your ideas and I am always wanting to see what you do next!In my home I have been known to use a few straight pins and a glue gun to hold things together. Sometimes the most creative ideas are last minute and you need to plug in the glue gun, especially if I am having guests and haven't finished that last minute project. I would love to join in ont the fun. When you start the post would it be ok if I send some window treatments that I have done in my home. I'll let you guess where the glue gun has been used. Here's a hint... If it has trim it has glue! Blessings...Sherry
Ok, I asked a few weeks ago if you could hang a curtain from the ceiling. (thanks for your answer!) I thought and thought and figured it out. It makes a little reading corner for my daughter. I'd love to post a picture but I don't know how, and I certainly don't have a blog :( I'll be looking @ all your pictures Monday.
oh, my. I have SO many mistreatments to choose from!!! I may have to show them all!!
Ok, I'm so excited for the party! And so glad that I didn't miss it while I was on vacation.
Well, I actually have quite a few mistreatments in my home, but recently made some for my daughter and her new husband's first little apartment. I posted about them. Hope to get them hung at their place this week.

I found your blog about 2 weeks before moving to my new house. I was so thrilled to have permission to break the rules! And I love my new glue gun and I love love love how my mistreatment turned out! Thank you!!! http://nicolemoncur.blogspot.com/2009/02/xena-warrior-princess.html
This is awesome! It takes me forever to have anything on my windows because I take so long to make just one, the kitchen sink window was going to be the last, now I can have one up there today after I mistreat it! Thanks so much!
