It's the last day!
When you walk through your home can you tell what season it is? I'm not saying that you should have pumpkins lining the halls or a Christmas tree in every room but sometimes the most subtle items can give a nod to the season.
I don't know about you but I try to pull out a few of my Christmas decorations November 1st. The season is so short that for me, it's not fun to wait until December. So so slowly add in more and more Christmas. Besides, my family LOVES Christmas decorations and I've got some great stuff to share this season and we are sure to be inspired with the Christmas tour of homes!
Enjoy the evening, no matter what you are doing~we had a fantastic sale that was very well worth the trouble and it was pure joy to meet some of you!

I try to box up the seashells in the fall, because to me they scream "summer." I waited until TODAY to finally do a few Halloween things, but I did decorate for fall back a few weeks ago. Christmas will start creeping into my home in a few days, and it's a welcome thing to see around here.

I love Christmas decorating, but I usually wait until the week of Thanksgiving; I decorate everything Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday and then turn on my lights after we eat on Thanksgiving. But I may start earlier this year - since all of my Christmas is down from the move, it'll be easier.
Can't wait to go on "tour" with the Nester!

I'm packing up fall decorations tonight, and starting with some Christmas items, too! It's nice to know I'm not the only one ready to get my Christmas on!

I can't believe it's over. The 31-Day Nest Fest is OVER. I'm going to emotionally eat my way through the Halloween candy now. Excuse me ...
I've been trying to collect more and more things for each season and holiday so that my home is more welcoming and represents each season. I've got a nice little start on Autumn, a few Halloweenie things, and I'm working on Thanksgiving. We have a few trees that we set up for Christmas and I'm doing "themes" this year. I'm sooo excited and I hope it all works out.

My kids start asking if we can put up Christmas decoration in September! We always start the day after Thanksgiving, but I guess there is no law against starting subtly sooner!

I am going to have to start doing the same thing. I was planning on decorating early this year anyway just because my baby may come at the end of November. But I'm thinking after reading this post that I'll have to make early decorating a yearly tradition.

Here it is Halloween-and I have a little Thanksgiving sitting on the same table also:) Fall colors and natural textures for November...just go so well together!! Thanks for all the great ideas and pictures.
My BFF met you this morning (she was the one from Indian Trail) and she called me as giddy as a kid in a candy store. I have to say I was SO jealous - in a happy way. She scored some awesome loot (oval mirror, tassels, urn picture etc). Whatever she chooses to give me for Christmas will suit me just fine. ;)
I wanted to encourage you, b/c she said several times that you were SO sweet and easy going IRL. Enjoy the weekend!

Great tips all. Thanks so much for a wonderful series. I found some more seating for our house! Woo hoo!! I helped at a yard sale of multiple families and told the coordinator to let me know if a certain pair of charming vintage chairs didn't sell and I'd make an offer. They're mine and I heart them so!
My husband wasn't sure they were a 'need' but after placing them in our living room - he's a believer!

A Halloween yard sale!! How's that for celebrating a holiday?! I'm glad it was a treat for you.
My holiday decorating goes in stages. After October 31, I take the jack-o-lanterns out of the picture, but I leave the plain pumpkins and work them into my Thanksgiving decorations. I love to decorate for Thanksgiving--it always seems like the underdog holiday to me, getting stuck between Halloween and Christmas.
Thank you for the reminder of just when your holiday tour is. I bet you could sell spaces on the tour. You could auction off the #1 McLinky spot!

I like the idea of starting with subtle Christmas decorations November 1st. We usually get our tree decorated Thanksgiving weekend but there's no reason I can't do the rest of the house earlier. Our tree would be dead by Christmas if I put it up any earlier.

I'm also sad about the 31 days being over. It's what kept me going through these weeks with three children down with the swine flu. They are better now, and I'm ADDICTED to loving on my home! Thanks for all the inspiration...

Ok, so I've never been much for seasonal decorating (except for a small, two-foot tree in December). Of course, I'd never had my own house before this summer, either.
I did feel the urge - and tried to follow it - to decorate some for fall. I used fresh flowers from the yard until they all froze. And now some dried grasses/plants, pinecones, pumpkins and such. I'm not really sure what to do next or just wait for Christmas!
Also, thanks for the pics of "subtle" decorating - I don't really want my house completely covered in whatever the season is, but do appreciate what you showed in this post on how to make it obvious I am noticing the season without making it obnoxious!

When you started I was just finishing packing up my old home and as you end I am settling in to my new rental home.
My Mom is a great homemaker and decorator so I feel like I've had good training :o) However, I've really appreciated your fresh perspective and inspiration and feel like it has helped me in my transition to a new nest.
