I can't live without my hammer, a great little nail kit from Wal Mart that was $3, my sewing machine, fabric and family photos.
Take Care,
Michelle
I definitely can't live without my sewing machine. I also use a ton of that green flower wire...or whatever you call it. Especially for holiday decorating.
You forgot the internet! It is a fabulous decorating tool and gives me lots of ideas to expand on!
~ Sarah
Oh and painters tape! I love that stuff and use it all the time--the color is atrocious, but it adhers without damaging. I love it!

How about heat-n-bond and iron-on velcro tabs?(Both are key in the whole avoiding-the-sewing-machine crusade I am on!)

What decorating tool can I not live without?
You, dear crazy Nester girl. You.
love yas.
YOUR BLOG!
My staple gun!
BTW, I love #4. You knew I would though, didn't you?
paint. it's the only thing i know how to do, slap new paint on the walls.
Some fresh flowers, preferable from my garden so they are cheap. Any room lights up with some flowers in them. Other then that, I only need good advice and encouraging words, and I have you for that. Thanks and greetings, M
Blogland! ha ha
And books. I stack 'em everwhere.
Blogs cause otherwise I would have never known what a mistreatment was!
I can't live without my Hobby Lobby!!! To include my employee discount and wonderful boss who loves to give me broken stuff.
And my sewing machine, I use it almost every day. Great post!
You were the inspiration for me starting a blog...so my #1 tool would be Nester! Than all of my other favorite blogs and blogfriends...and I am also loving scrapbook paper lately :)
Have a great weekend :)

I always seem to be pulling out my hammer and all my nails. I use it more than my husband...my mother-in-law bought me a pink floral handle "hammer" for Christmas b/c I use it so much!
-Sandy Toes
Books and boxes for lifts.
Fringe and Ring hooks...first bought because of you. Glue Gun....a better one bought because of you!! Yep! Lovin' it!
How did I know that a glue gun would be on your list?? :)
Oops - I was supposed to put my fav. decorating tool. Well, lazy as I am, I have started hanging things up with tacks...yep, the ones you just get in the office supply store. Too lazy to find those hammer and nails, but I always know where the tacks are. :)
My list is almost exactly like your's, although I have never try to hammer anything with a high heel spike...definitely not above it, though... I'd have to include Stitch Witchery on my list. And definitely flowers, live or dried.
:) Funny!
I can't live without my sewing machine, my glue gun, Hancock Fabrics, Hobby Lobby and my new nail gun. My husband got to pick a gift when he hit 5 years at the hospital he works at. He let me pick something and it came yesterday. I got a nail gun! YAY!!!!
BTW . . . I was at a prayer shawl ministry meeting last night (we knit shawls and blankets for people who are sick or have a new baby, etc.) I showed the ladies there your blog. I was told that their husbands were going to hate me for that.
MUST HAVE GLUE GUN AND SCRAPBOOK PAPER!
Blanca
Hello! Long time lurker here... that picture of the bird cage reminded me... I picked up a bird cage for FREE at a yard sale this summer... it's the old style, similar to the one pictured, but I don't have a clue what to do with it! I know that I like it... but how do I use it? I want it to look fabulous! Any tips?
Hmm, let's see...ribbon (you can always pretty things up with it!), those darn Dollar Tree birds (it's become an addiction), and this is going to sound so funny, but my husband. When I need a creative way to work on something, he comes up with it. When I need some encouragement when I'm feeling like I can't accomplish something, he encourages. Plus when I need something out of the attic or shop he goes in to get it for me. I'm afraid of spiders. *shivers*
This is not related to this post, but I totally missed your mistreatment party because life was crazy and I just couldn't get my curtains done. However, I finally finished my first mistreatment and wanted to say thanks for the inspiration. I just posted about them here - http://butavapor.blogspot.com/2008/08/our-ever-evolving-living-room.html. Thanks again!
Loving your blog!!! Gotta have my hammer.
I can't live without my sewing machine & my staple gun!
Oh, spray paint is right up there at the top, as well as regular paint, glaze, fabric glue & my tools: hammer, nails, level. Gotta get me a laser level soon!
1. ribbon
2. candles
3. seasonal fillers: seashells, pumpkins, leaves, etc...
4.step stool
5.YOU!
OH MY GOODNESS! I just picked myself up off the floor from falling off my chair after I clicked on the words "queen of spray paint."
Never in a million years would I have thought you were referring to me!
I have been deemed a queen by THE Nester. Thank you so much for this mighty honor!
Really, I am humbled, and I truly appreciate your kindness!
Oh, I think this may be stretching it a bit, but, a great thrift store is one of my "tools" to beautify my home.
My multipurpose screw driver. That sucker is always needed. That and the internet ;-) Love your site!
Definitely my sewing machine. And my Nester-fix.
Great post! My list is similar to yours. Although I believe that my obsession with spray paint is becoming unhealthy.
I've bought 15 cans in the last two days. Kilz spray paint for $1.80 at Big Lots. YeeeeeHaaaaaaw!!
My other tool is my favorite fleatique store. What would I ever do without them?
My level so things aren't horribly crooked, stick on velcro tabs for hanging pics and my mini ever so light weight power screw driver!
I didn't know what I could live without until met your blog, except grilled shrimp. (oh, you asked about decorating.;)
So now I would say, ring clips, a hammer, and fabric, gotta have fabric!!!!! whoohoo!
Oh my staple gun, I love it! And of course vast amounts of eggshell paint and cheap pretty Cath Kidston fabric from ebay
Let's see...spray paint, glue gun, level, hammer and of course, all the great ideas here. Fun, fun post!
Peanut butter! Yes I love to eat it, but it also helps me hang my photos straight on the wall! You just dab a bit of pb on the back where the nails go and then you press it up against the wall. Now you can check if it is level. and then wherever the pb is on the wall that is where the nails go! hillbilly i know, but it works:)
I too need all the things you listed, but also I love to decorate with my APOTHECARY JARS! They are sooo versatile and make just about anything look pretty too:)
And, if you are a perfectionist like me then you gotta have a laser level for hanging just about any grouping!!! It makes the task alot less challenging
Decorating Magazines and a glass of wine...
My putty knife. I abuse that thing horribly, but it's so handy. Just sharp enough to scrape without gouging. Just strong enough to pry and usually easier to find than the screw drivers (because my hubby doesn't usually touch my putty knife. Of course I use my glue gun just as often or more, but you already listed that ;-)
Oh how I love your blog.. It has been so great for me and some of my friends. You have a large following. I love my wire cutters. Can't live without those. I use those for my floral arrangements and wreath making.
Staple Gun, Laser Level and of course, my handy, dandy Hubby! :)
Staple Gun!!!!
lol about the peanut butter comment!
soooo...i was just reading your old posts, and read some of your dec. stuff (ped egg, God blush ameria) and i LITERALY laughed out loud till i cried and snorted. i'm home alone...and what's up with that showoff who says she can't live w/o her sewing machine!
meaghan--you are right--all of those show offs saying they must have a sewing machine! I mean, what about tape?!
Now you are making me laugh.
trish, i've used lipstick--too hard to remove, I think the peanut butter is brillant! of which i am not and cannot spell it.
staple gun! yes!
husband! yes!
wine! yes, then I would be asleep.
I can't live without my hammer, sewing machine and my embroidery machine!!!
All of the above, I also use that Poster Tack stuff alot. It's great to put behind a picture to make it level if it's a tad off. I also put it on a nail head and place a button on the nail head and hang a picture from ribbon. Also for that little noise my china cabinet dishes makes when I walk across the floor I put a little under the dish that makes the noise. It stops, maybe it would help if I lost weight or walked a little more softly across the floor.
The Internet and my mom...I need all the help I can get. It's just not natural for me. I'm trying though...
I wanted to say hi and thanks. I am going to be a contributor at Bd and wouldn't be if you didn't post the opportunity! :) Jen R
I don't know if this counts but here goes- my scrapbooks! I keep a bunch of "mini" ones in my living room in a basket. Whenever I have company they love to look at them. How is that a decorating tool? Simple- it totally distracts them from looking at my (usually) messy house and poor attempts to beautify it! HA!
I couldn't live without my level or my tape measure. They even travel in my purse with me. I should probably name them. Laverne and Shirley?! That tape measure is the kooky one and the level is all "knock that off kooky tape measure!"..... oh my it is too late to be blogging ;)!
I can't believe you left out your paper towels! Aren't they almost like paintbrushes to you?
Nester,
I stumbled across your blog and fell in love! You have fabulous ideas! I cannot live without my staple gun!
I really enjoy all your ideas.
Um.
Hi.
I'm new here.
YOU. ARE. MY. HERO.
Are you for rent?
:o)

Another vote for all the blogs that inspire me!
I also couldn't live without my local thrift stores and flea markets. I get the best stuff there!
All of the above, plus my spray paint gun thingy, and a staple gun! (sounds like I have a thing about "guns" lol. I also LOVE my glue gun! hehe)
Blogs, definitely! Fabric, sewing machine, paint, brushes, spray paint, nails, & hammer. Not to mention some very fortunate finds.
LOL, great post!
Okay, I definitely can't make it without...
spray paint
ring clips
awesomely fabulous coupons from JoAnn's, Michael's and AC Moore
glue gun
Country Living (inspiration)
cheesecloth (for distressing, finishing and the like)
Hi Nester,
I just started a series on redoing my dinning room for about $100 thanks to you. My little dog peeded all over my expensive curtains, twice. After my dh restrained me from killing the dog (who had a very smug look on his face and appeared to be lifting his leg again in a threatening manner) I realized that this was an opportuinity...no a gift and that I was gonna mistreat, no downright abuse the whole room.
Come visit when you can...
Many Blessings :)
Ace <---Didn't wear heels when I did all the mistreating, I was barefoot and chasing babies, but my heart was wearing a hot pair of pink patent leather stilettos.
Hey Nester,
Love your style, colors, imagination. You are helping me come out of my decorating shell and trying to use fabric. Hey, I know you probably can't say but how did you make such a beautiful tassel and that sway with all that material. I would love to make a few of each for gifts.
Thanks,
Cheryl
I can't live without twigs, floral foam, and lots and lots of ribbon. Your blog is great - the mistreatments are genius!
-Pumpkin Cottage
